The department of Political Science at D.A.V College Bathinda is committed to high academic standards in teaching, research and dedicated to understanding and explaining politics. It was established in 1969. The course of post graduation in Political Science was started in 2013. Our goal is to educate students at both the Undergraduate and Post graduate level about political concepts, theories and methods.

Vision

The department of Political Science continuously makes efforts to bring excellence, scientific temper, humanism and spirit of enquiry by imparting impartial knowledge about emerging trends and issues of society. It  familiarizes the students with the recent academic debates and theories to better understand the subject. The department provides maximum autonomy to students to develop critical and creative thinking, enabling them to think, express their views and realize their potential for the betterment of the society.

Post Graduate Department of Political Science, DAV College Bathinda Organises “Cheerio-2023”

The students of M.A. Political Science of DAV College, Bathinda organized a Farewell Party “Cheerio-2023”f or the M.A. II students of the Department of Political Science. The programme commenced with the welcome of the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh, Prof. Vikas Katia, Head, Department of Political Science Prof. Pawanpreet Singh, Prof. Varinder Singh, Prof. Karamjeet Kaur and Prof. Gurwinder Kaur by the students.

DAV College Bathinda Organises Symposium on “Emerging Trends in Punjab Politics”

The Post Graduate Department of Political Science, DAV College Bathinda in collaboration with Political Science Association (Regd.) Punjab organized a symposium on “Emerging Trends in Punjab Politics” on April 12, 2023. Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Convener and HoD Prof. Pawanpreet Singh and Coordinator Prof. Varinder Singh extended a warm welcome to the resource persons, Dr. Surjeet Singh Narang (Former Professor, Head Department Of Political Science, GNDU Amritsar), Dr. Jamshid Ali Khan (Former Professor, Political Science, Punjabi University, Patiala; President PSA (Regd.) Punjab) and Dr. Satnam Singh (Head Department of Political Science, Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib; General Secretary PSA (Regd.) Punjab.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma thanked the resource persons for sparing time off their busy schedule and enlightening the audience with their wisdom and knowledge. He further stated that politics plays an important role in the social, political and economic development of a country and every citizen should be aware of the pattern and emerging trends in the politics of their region. He also appreciated the Head, Department of Political Science Prof. Pawanpreet Singh and the faculty members Prof. Varinder Singh, Dr. Karamjeet Kaur and Dr. Gurwinder Kaur for organizing this symposium.

The stage was coordinated by Prof. Varinder Singh and the Vote of Thanks was extended by Prof. Pawanpreet Singh.
