Expert Talk on the topic ‘Mindful Communication : Being Present’ organised by Post Graduate Department of Commerce at DAV College Bathinda.

The Post Graduate Department of Commerce of DAV College, Bathinda organized an Expert Talk on the topic ‘Mindful Communication: Being Present’ on 9 April, 2024 by Dr. Dhiraj Sharma, School of Management Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala.

The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh, Prof. Vikas Katia and Dr. Kusum Gupta warmly felicitated the guests. Dr. Dhiraj Sharma dwelled deep on the significance of non-verbal communication in one’s life. With the help of illustrative images, he highlighted that body gestures are of prime importance. He asserted that listening and observing are equally important traits of effective communication.

Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg formally introduced the guest speaker. Around 80 students enthusiastically listened to the lecture and were motivated valuably. The stage was conducted by Prof. Neha Garg.

DAV College, Bathinda organises 7 Days Workshop on Personality Development.

Department of Computer Science in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Institution Innovation Council (IIC) is organising a Seven Day workshop from October 17,2023 to October 23,2023 for the selected students of BBA, BCA, B.Com (Hons.), PGDCA.On the day of Commencement, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma encouraged the students to develop refine Personality by inculcating fine Communication Skills, a dignified level of Confidence, habit of Reading Newspaper and Effective Writing Skills. He wished luck to all the 47 participants of the workshop. The Coordinator of the Workshop, Prof. Rajesh Batra welcomed the participants and introduced all the Resource Persons. He mentioned the topics listed in this certificate course.The resource person of the workshop includes Dr. Satish Grover, Registrar, Dr. Vandana Jindal, Coordinator IIC, Prof. Pawan Kumar Coordinator IQAC, Prof. Vikas Katia, Dr. Shishpal Jindal, Dr. Neetu Purohit, Prof. Neha Sharma, Prof. Heena Bindal and Mr. Vishal Chawla, who would work in collaboration to impart Motivational, Self Introduction and Introspection Skills, Leadership Qualities, Communication Skills, Attributes of Group Discussion, and tips for Resume Writing.All the participants were seen much exhilarated and excited, and were well set to imbibe the key points in their personality.Also present in the inaugural address were Prof. Rakesh Puri, Prof. Anuja Puri, Dr. Rishm, Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Ms. Gurpreet and Ms. Sandhya.

DAV College, Bathinda organised Motivational Lecture to Join Indian Army.

Department of Computer Science in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Institutions’ Innovation Council (IIC), and Placement and Counseling Cell has organized a “Motivational Lecture” for the aspiring youth of the College. Captain Shubham Thakur, 11 FOD was the featured speaker for the seminar. The Principal of the College, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Registrar, Dr. Satish Grover, Head Department, Computer Science, and Coordinator IIC, Dr. Vandana Jindal, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Pawan Kumar, Coordinator, Placement and Counseling Cell, Prof. Meetu Wadhwa welcomed Capt. Shubham Thakur.

Capt. Shubham urged the students to join armed forces while informing the audience about the salient features of the Army. He detailed about the challenging Army Life, Professionalism, Unit ethos, Secularism and other aspects of the army. Students interacted with Capt. Shubham and raised their queries related to different branches of the armed forces. Around 150 students from BCA-I,II,III, DCA, PGDCA, MSC-IT(Lateral) listened to the engaging and informational lecture.

The stage was managed by Dr. Rishm, Department of Computer Science. The Principal of the College, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma addressed the students and encouraged them to provide selfless services to all the sections of the society, and be responsible, devoted, selfless and dedicated citizens of the country. Anti-Dengue Campaign. (6-10-2023)

A team from civil hospital Bathinda visited the campus for carrying out anti-dengue campaign creating awareness among the students that how they can protect themselves from being infected by the dengue mosquito. Mr. Bhupinder Singh from the health department highlighted the points regarding the same.

Lecture on Evolution of science was given by Dr. Arun K. Grover (Before independence. (4-6-2023)

This piece of work on the India’s contribution to the knowledge of science has been specifically prepared for vidyarthi vigyan manthan. It is portrays the achievements of India in science and technology since the ancient times. The evolution of India as a unique society can be attributed to the ancient concept of vasudaiva kutubkan meaning the whole world is one family. This unity had aroused feelings of tolerance towards freedom of expression and knowledge. The discovery of various scientific facts and the development of scientific concept and technologies gave rise to a new age that could keep India in the forefront of the knowledge hub for centuries. He also talked about different scientist and their contribution namely : Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose(1858-1937), Prafulla Chandra ray (1861-1944), sinivasa Ramanujan (1887-1920) many more. He also said there is abundance of talent in India and it needs to be utilized effectively, efficiently and strongly feel that it is the duty of every parent and teacher to encourage and spirit of scientific temperaments should be developed in students. the task is accomplishable if you all strive for it. The goal is certainly not for away.

Festival of Science (Vigyan Mela) inaugurated by Air Commodore Prem Kumar Krishnaswami at DAV College, Bathinda.

The three days Festival of Science (Vigyan Mela) was inaugurated by Air Commodore Prem Kumar Krishnaswami, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Bathinda at DAV College, Bathinda today i.e 04.10.2023. The Festival is being organized jointly by Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), Society for Promotion of Science & Technology in India (SPSTI) and School Education Department, Punjab under its science outreach program from 04-10-2023 to 06-10-2023 to exhibit and display science activities in interesting way so as to create interest in STEM subjects and inculcate scientific temper. The Vigyan Mela is also nurturing creativity for school and college students through competitions like quiz, posters, and model making. Eminent personalities who addressed the participants in the inaugural session included Sh. Rahul Tewari, Secretary Science, Technology & Environment, Govt. of Punjab, Sh. Shiv Pal Goyal, DEO (SE), Prof Arun Grover, former Vice Chancellor, PU, Sh. Dharamvir and Dr. Keya Dharamvir from SPSTI and Dr. K.S. Bath, Joint Director, PSCST. Other dignitaries present on the dias were Dr. Mandakani Thakur, Project Scientist, PSCST, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Principal of DAV College and Coordinators of the event namely Prof. Meetu S. Wadhwa, Prof. Aman Malohtra, Local Advisory Committee Members Dr. K.K. Nohria and Smt. Vimal Garg.The Vigyan Mela has impressive exhibition on artillery by Indian Army, Air Force and NDRF in addition to Activity Corners by eminent Resource Persons on: Visual Explanation of Geometry by S. Gurmeet Singh; Science Communication through Puppetry by Sh. Manmohan Lal and Health & Innovative Science Experiments by local colleges and schools. Special attractions are Lab on Wheels by Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Circus of Science, Night Sky Watching, Telescope making workshop, Robotics & Drones and Lectures on Science & Technology by SPSTI. An activity corner has been set up by Punjab State Climate Change Knowledge Centre of PSCST. There will also be an exhibition of books, film screenings and science stage shows. The Festival of Science is bringing together around 8000 students of secondary schools and colleges of Bathinda who will visit the event in 3 days which included 2000 students on day one. 80 Science Models were exhibited by school students and 18 stalls have been put up by eminent Resource Persons, DAV College, MRSPTU, Adesh University, Guru Kashi University and Kheti Virasat Mission. Vigyan Mela has provided a unique environment for the students of the district to learn science in an interesting manner and will help to inculcate scientific temper in the young minds.In the 6th to 8th Class Poster Making Competition Team Little Flower Senior Secondary School got the first and second, Silver Oaks School, Dabwali Road got the third prize. Little Flower School, Delhi public School, Govt. High School Chak, Ram Singh Wala bagged the Appreciations Prizes.In the group of Class 9th to 10+2, R.B.D.A.V Sr. Sec. School was awarded first and the third prize, the second was awarded to Govt. Adarsh Sen. Sec. School, Canal Colony, Bathinda. Govt. Sr. Sen School Chak Fateh Singh Wala and Govt. Sr. Sec. School(Girls), Rampura Mandi received the Appreciations Prizes. At College Level, Govt. Rajindra College received the first and third, DAV College Bathinda the second prize.

DAV College, Bathinda observed ‘Swachh Bharat Divas’ on October 2, 2023

NSS, NCC and Youth Welfare Department of DAV College, Bathinda resolutely observed Swachh Bharat Divas to celebrate the ‘Jan Andolan’ for swachata as a tribute to the Mahatma Gandhi’s Swachh Bharat Mission.A total of 308 NSS and 25 NCC volunteers along with the teaching and non teaching staff of DAV College Bathinda participated in the event. The Principal of the college, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma had all the words of appreciation for the efforts of Lt. DAV College Bathinda organises a Guest Lecture on the Birth Anniversary of S. Bhagat Singh.

On September 28,2023, The Department of History, DAV College, Bathinda in association with IQAC and ICC organised a guest lecture by Dr Paramjeet Singh Ramana celebrating the birth anniversary of S. Bhagat Singh. The Vice Principal of the College, Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Prof. Sandeep Bhatia Head, Department of History, Prof. Vikas Katia, Prof. Kuldeep Singh welcomed Dr. Ramana. Prof. Roop Singh handled the stage.Dr. Ramana remarkably enunciated the biographical anecdotes of the great warrior S. Bhagat Singh commemorating him on his Birth Anniversary. He eloquently detailed the students about his Ideology, narrating multiple incidents of national importance and conveyed about the relevance of knowing this inspirational figure here and now. His oration spellbound the students who were then more inquisitive about reading his Ideology.The Principal of the college, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma admired the efforts made Prof. Sandeep Bhatia, Prof. Roop Singh, Prof. Gursewak Singh and Prof. Bageecha Singh for arranging for the day. DAV College Bathinda organises a Lecture on Stress Management.

The Department of Commerce in association with IQAC and IIC set for an Extension Lecture on ‘Stress Management’ by an eminent orator E.V. Gireesh; a dynamic trainer and counsellor with an experience of more than 16 years. The Principal of the College, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma felicitated the honourable Guest along with Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Head, Department of Commerce, Dr. Satish Grover Registrar, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Pawan Kumar, IIC Coordinator Dr. Vandana Jindal, Prof. Vikas Katia and Dr. Kusum Gupta.Prof. Neha Garg managed the stage and invited Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg to introduce the speaker of the day. The esteemed speaker deliberated on the factors causing stress and put forward the remedies to tackle stress manually and therapeutically. He elaborated on the idea to look for the light within and battle against all the psychological obstructions. The audience witnessed a Stress free environment in the Hall and carried away the learnings thoughtfully. DAV College Bathinda, participates in Mega Event of Indian Swachata League 2.0.(26-9-2023)

NSS unit of DAV College Bathinda gives its contribution in the Mega event of Indian Swachata League 2.0 organized by Municipal Corporation of Bathinda. Activities like Cleanliness Campaign, Tree Plantation, Wet Waste to Compost, Waste to Art and Bio Engymes were planned in the event. A total of 52 NSS volunteers got indulged in this Mega drive, organised at Dadi Poti Park, Model Town, Phase III, Bathinda.The purpose of launching this campaign was to create an awareness amongst the residents to keep the surroundings clean and environment friendly. The Principal of the college, Dr. Rajeev Sharma applauded the steadfast efforts of Dr. Vandana Jindal (IIC Coordinator), Prof. Rajesh Batra, Dr. Surinder Kumar Singla and NSS Coordinators Prof. Amit Kumar Singla, Dr. Prabhjot Kaur and Dr. Amar Santosh for the beautification of the city.

DAV College, Bathinda gets the opportunity of, setting for the District Level Girls’ Cricket Tournament under the banner of ‘Khedo Punjab, Wdho Punjab’. The Principal of the College extended a warn welcome to DEO (SE) Sh. Shivpal Goyal, Dy. DEO (SE) Sh. Iqbal Singh Butter, DSC Sh. Jasveer Singh Gill, Nodal Officer Principal Sh. Karamjit Singh Kot Bakhtu, Convener Sh. Ravinder Singh GSSS Bhucho Mandi, Co-convener Sh. Jaswinder Singh. All the enthusiastic girls players were keyed up on receiving this platform for showcasing their exceptional skills in Cricket.Semi Final and Final matches were played among various Zones at District level. The Celebrated teams of Bathinda Zone One, Bathinda Zone Two and Talwandi Sabo Zone Three played at their best and gets hold of much cheers from the audience.The Principal of the College graced the event, while wishing the players, the best of their luck and encouraged them to participate enthusiastically in the sports of all kind. He acknowledged the challenging efforts of all the girls in coming out of the bars to the grounds. DAV College Bathinda Organises Poster Making and Declamation Competitions on “Nashey Bhagao, Beta Bachao”.(23-9-2023)

The NSS Unit, Red Ribbon Club in collaboration with Institutional Innovation Council (IIC) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of DAV College Bathinda organized Declamation and Poster Making Competitions on “Nashey Bhagao, Beta Bachao” on September 23, 2023, under the auspices of Dainik Bhaskar. The students presented posters on themes related to educating people about drug use disorders, available treatments and the importance of early intervention and support; empowering young people and communities to prevent drug use and addiction and many others. The young crusaders through their poster and vehement speeches took a pledge to “Say Yes to Life and No to Drugs”. Through their speeches, the students exhorted the young generation to stay away from the vicious trap of drugs. The abuse of alcohol and drugs continue to be a detrimental cause both for the parents as well as the nation. The Poster Making Competition was judged by Mr. Pradeep Kumar (Senior Correspondent, Dainik Bhaskar), Dr. Vandana Jindal (IIC Coordinator), Dr. Pawan Kumar (IQAC Coordinator) and Dr. Paramjeet Kaur (Youth Coordinator) and the Declamation competition by Dr. Neetu Purohit.Around 45 NSS volunteers participated in the event. The first prize in the poster competition was won by Himanshu Bansal (BA II), second by Anjali (B.Com Hons.) and the third was won by Anjali Kumari (B.Sc. III). Harleen (BA II) bagged the first prize in the declamation competition, Harmanpreet and Simranjeet (M.Sc. II) stood second and the third prize was won by Khushi (BA II). Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the NSS Coordinators Prof. Amit Kumar Singla, Dr. Prabhjot Kaur and Dr. Amar Santosh Singh for organizing this event. He also praised the efforts of NSS volunteers and the participants. He stated that it is the institution’s primary focus to work towards the well being of the students. A Multifaceted Extravaganza – Day-2 of Talent Hunt Organized by DAV College Bathinda. (20 & 21 Sep, 2023)

The precincts of DAV College Bathinda glowed with a vibrant tapestry of talent on the culmination of the “Talent Hunt” organized on September 21 & 22, 2023. Day -2 commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Guest of Honour Ms. Vimal Garg (Member, Local Advisory Committee), Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh, Bursar Prof. Aman Malhotra, Dean Placement & Career Counselling Cell Prof. Meetu S. Wadhwa, IQAC Coordinator Prof. Pawan Kumar and Youth Coordinator Dr. Paramjeet Kaur.

The event kicked-off with “Rhythm”- the Dance Show, which regaled the audience with captivating and mesmerizing array of solo and group dance performances. From Indian Classical to Bhangra and Giddha, the students set the stage rocking and enthralled the spectators. The versatility and panache displayed by the students made the judgment difficult. Acknowledging the efforts of the participants, excellence Awards were presented to Kuljeet Singh (BA III), Parwinder Singh (M.Com I) and Navdeep Singh (BA III) in Bhangra; Mehakpreet Kaur, Rishm and Himanshi in Solo Dance; Nidhi for Classical Dance; Ramandeep Kaur and Amandeep Kaur won the accolades in Group Dance and Simrandeep Kaur and Akashdeep Kaur were felicitated for Giddha.

The awe-inspiring Fine Arts Exhibition left the audience marveling at the artistic brilliance of the college students. Paintings, Sketches, Photographs, Rangoli Making, Cartooning, Folk Art pieces adorned the walls of the gallery and displayed the vivid imagination of the young artists. The depth and the breadth of the artists’ talent was rewarded with appreciation in various categories. Meenu (B.Com III), Harmanjot Kaur (M.Sc. Chemistry) won the prizes in Rangoli Competition, Anjali Kumari (B.Sc. III) and Varinda (B.SC. I) bagged the prizes in On the spot painting competition, Garima Saini (B.Com III) and Lovepreet Kaur (B.Sc I) won the accolades in Poster Competition ; Jashanpreet Kaur (B.Com II) and Happy (BA II) earned the praises for Cartooning; Gagandeep Singh (BA II), Manish (BA II) and Vikramjeet (BA II) were appreciated for Photography and Lok Kalawan witnessed Kamalpreet Kaur clinching the titles for Pakhi and Manpreet Kaur for Guddiyan Patole.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma expressed immense satisfaction at being a witness to the artistic prowess of the students on the different stages. He stated that the two days event “Talent Hunt” is an attempt at tapping the latent multifaceted aspects of the student community and in the process promoting holistic development, fostering creativity and encouraging participation among students. This in turn keeps alive the positive ambience of the college and promotes mutual harmony amongst all. He greatly applauded the dedicated efforts of the Youth Coordinator Dr. Paramjeet Kaur and all the team in-charges for the meticulous planning and execution of the event.

The gala event concluded with the faculty and the students dancing to the jazzy beats of the DJ and celebrating the transformative power of creative arts.

Readers’ Club, DAV College, Bathinda meets up for the Orientation Session. (20-9-2023)

The book enthusiasts excitedly geared up for the Orientation Session of the Readers’ Club. Dr. Satish Grover, Head, Department of English inaugurated the session by extending a warm welcome to the new Readers. Prof. Neha Sharma, Incharge, Readers’ Club briefed the students about the club. The readers were oriented by informing how this club instills the love for reading and the critical endeavour, by encouraging the readers to engage themselves in thought provoking reading. The book lovers’ are expected to review the piece of literature they have read. Readers were motived to create book covers and book marks to depict their understanding of the book. The readers ellobared on the books as diverse as Bhagwad Geeta, The Invisible Man, Wuthering Heights, The Silent Patient etc. The event was a stirring ride from thriller to spiritualism and from fantasy to self help. Dr. Neetu Purohit, Prof. Heena Bindal, Prof. Samarveer, Prof. Asha, Prof. Anita and Prof. Manpreet Kaur interacted with the readers and interrogated them about the books they have read laterally. The event concluded with a Thanks giving note by Prof. Neha Sharma.

Departments of Physics, Botany, and Zoology of DAV College, Bathinda ignited the flames of scientific curiosity through an enthralling competition on Experiments & Demonstrations in Sciences. This event, held under the auspices of the DBT Star College Scheme, unfolded on the 16th of September, 2023, commencing at 10:00 AM, at the state-of-the-art Innovation-Hub located within the hallowed halls of the Physics Department. Dr. Gurpreet Singh, the Head of Department for Physics spearheading the activity, welcomed a vibrant cohort of 62 budding scholars pursuing B.Sc. across Medical and Non-Medical disciplines. The competition served as an induction program for the fresh faces of B.Sc., seamlessly blending theory with hands-on practice. The event witnessed participants from B.Sc.-II and IIIrd Years expertly crafting insightful presentations using PPTs, enlightening the newcomers with a vivid array of demonstrations, each anchored in fundamental scientific principles. Dr. Amar Santosh, the Head of Zoology Department, delivered a captivating exposition on the workings of the Digital Microscope. Dr. Kulwinder Singh Mann, co-ordinator, DBT Star College Scheme deftly guided the proceedings, overseeing a diverse array of demonstrations encompassing topics as diverse as Conservation of Angular Momentum, Equilibrium, Plasma, Tesla Coil, Black Hole, Faraday Electromagnetic Shielding, Racing Track, Working Principle of Generator, Automatic Energy Saver, Total Internal Reflection Vortex Formation, Digital Microscope, and Detection of Blood Pressure.During the tea break, students engaged in a fruitful exchange with Dr. Vikas Duggal regarding his recent research endeavor, conducted in tandem with B.Sc. scholars under the DBT-Star College Scheme. Dr. Kulwinder Singh Mann, the DBT Coordinator, illuminated the scheme’s overarching objectives.Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma extended his congratulations to the departments for orchestrating this enlightening interdepartmental activity. He also unveiled plans for an upcoming mega science fair scheduled for the first week of October, 2023.The eminent panel of judges, Dr. Kulwinder Singh Mann and Dr. Amar Santosh, meticulously assessed the teams, weighing their grasp of the demonstration’s underlying concepts and the level of participant involvement. In recognition of their efforts, certificates and accolades were conferred upon the victors.Team No. 2 (Sarthik, Ramendra, Jasleen, Muskan) secured the coveted First Prize, with Team No. 8 (Aanjali Kumari, Maha Singh) clinching Second Prize, and Team No. 1 (Garima, Nikita, Sarita) securing the Third Prize. DAV College Bathinda Organizes ‘Induction Programme’ for the New Literati. (18-9-2023)

Department of English, DAV College, Bathinda arranged for the induction, for the budding literati. The idea behind organising this event was to delineate the new students with the teaching fraternity of the department and the various societies and clubs under the aegis of the department of English.The stage was managed by the senior students. The occasion began with bidding welcome to the Principal, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh.The Principal of the college addressed the students and informed them about the distinct activities organised for the students, and encouraged them for active participation.Dr. Satish Grover, Head, Department of English conferred about the history of the college and the department. She detailed about the added feather of English Honours course and various other achievements of the department. Teachers of the department were introduced to the students. DAV College, Bathinda Plays a Part in Plastic Free Environment Drive On September 14, 2023.

The NSS unit of DAV College, Bathinda participated in ” Plastic Free Environment Drive”, under “Zero Waste Campaign”, organised by Municipal Corporation, Bathinda.The NSS volunteers of the college extended their whole hearted services to the campaign which was organised in collaboration with Sanitation Branch of Municipal Corporation, Bathinda and Trees Lovers’ Society. 23 volunteers participated in this campaign and helped in sanitizing the area, near Power House Road, Bathinda.The campaign was launched to create awareness amongst the residence to keep their surroundings Plastic Free. DAV College Bathinda Celebrates Hindi Diwas. (14-sep-2023)

Department of Hindi, in collaboration with the Arya Smaj Committee organizes, Poetry Recitation Competition to celebrate Hindi Diwas. The students of Hindi literature participated zealously and recited poems to commemorate the dignity of our national language. Dr. Manpreet Kaur from the Department of Hindi elaborated on the constitutional placement of Hindi as an official language. She informed the students about the relevance of Hindi language not only at National, but also at International level.The Principal, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the efforts made by the teachers and the students to observe this day gracefully. Furthermore, Inspector Harpreet Singh Chahal informed the students about the reasons of drug addiction in Punjab. As Punjab being a Border State, the drugs are spreading at a high speed in the state. On the auspicious occasion of Teachers Day (September 5, 2023), the NSS unit, Red Ribbon Club and Student Welfare Department of DAV College Bathinda in association with various social organizations of Bathinda organized a Blood Donation Camp. DAV College Bathinda Hosts Cricket Tournament for School Students. (4-9-2023)

In pursuit of channelizing the energies of young students in the right direction and to encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle, DAV College Bathinda organised School Games from August 28-31, 2023. The event witnessed an overwhelming participation of many schools. A surge of excitement pervaded the precincts of the college throughout the event, wherein matches were held in the U-14, U-17 and U-19 boys’ teams. The U-14 category witnessed 5 boys’ teams putting their best foot forward and playing enthusiastically. The final match was played between St. Xaviers School and Govt. Adarsh Sr. Sec. School Bathinda. St. Xaviers team emerged as the winner in this category. In the U-17 category, 8 boys’ teams participated in the tournament. The final match was played between St. Xaviers School and Govt. Adarsh Sr. Sec. School Bathinda. St. Xaviers School scored 120 runs in 12 overs and won the match by 15 runs.8 teams participated in the U-19 category. The final match was played between Govt. Adarsh Sen. Sec School and MHR School. The young lads of Govt. Adarsh Sen. Sec School chased the target and emerged victorious. The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma felt elated on the occasion and conveyed best wishes to the teams. He said that sports infuse discipline and sportsmanship spirit amongst the players and the precincts of the college are thus reverberating with exuberance and positive energy. The Post matric Scholarship Committee of DAV College Bathinda organized an induction programme for the students of minority community of the college. More than 100 students participated in this programme.Prof. Gurdeep Singh, Nodal Officer, delivered a detailed lecture on post matric scholarship scheme. He introduced the students to the benefits of this scheme, eligibility conditions, documents required and the procedure to apply for this scheme. All the rules and regulations regarding this scheme were discussed by Ms. Bandana (Accounts Office) and a flex, displaying the detailed instructions was also put up for the convenience of the students.Mr. Ashish Jindal, Branch Manager, Punjab National Bank, gave information and made the students aware about the opening of savings account. The NSS Department and the Career Counselling and Placement Cell of DAV College Bathinda organized an extension lecture on “Indian Army: A Life Less Ordinary”- Do You Dare? by Capt. Kunal Kulhari. The esteemed guest was accorded a warm welcome by the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, and NSS Coordinators Prof. Amit Kumar Singla and Dr. Amar Santosh Singh. Capt. Kunal Kulhari interacted with the students and informed them about the various exams, entry points and schemes to join the army. They were made aware of the hierarchy in Indian Army and deliberated upon the various courses and training programmes offered. DAV College Bathinda Celebrates Independence Day.(14-aug-2023)

The 77th anniversary of India’s Independence was celebrated with great reverence and enthusiasm at DAV College Bathinda. The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover and Prof. Meetu Sukhija extended a warm welcome to the guests, namely, Prof. N.K. Gosain (Retd. Professor), Prof. Sukhija (Retd. Professor) and Mr. Sukhmeet Bhasin (Senior Press Correspondent, The Tribune). To commemorate this auspicious occasion, various competitions were organised, like declamation, poetry recitation and patriotic songs. The whole atmosphere pervaded with soulful renditions by the students, paying tribute to the motherland and the freedom fighters. In the patriotic song competition, Mehak (BA I) stood first, Agnavi, Sanjog and Deepak (BA II) stood second and Shubham Kumar (BA III) secured third position. In the poetry recitation, Komalpreet Kaur (BA II) stood first, Sukhwinder Singh (BA I) stood second and Anjali (B.Sc. III) secured third position. The competition gave students an opportunity to gain more understanding about the independence struggle, the sacrifices made by the martyrs and the freedom fighters. The outpourings were effectively captured in emotional tones by the young brigade. Declamation witnessed Mandeep Kaur (M.Sc.II, Chemistry), Harleen Kaur (BA II) and Gogula Lakshmi (B.Com III Honours) securing first, second and third position respectively. Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma in his overwhelming speech stated that on this auspicious occasion, the college pays tribute to the martyrs and elicits outpourings of love, respect and sacrifice for the motherland. He also exhorted the students and staff to remember their duties towards the nation, when demanding for their rights. DAV College Bathinda celebrated World AIDS Day .

NSS Unit, Student Welfare Department, Inter Quality Assurance Cell and Institutional Innovation Council of DAV College Bathinda, celebrated World AIDS Day on the theme ‘Let Communities Lead’. The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, NSS Coordinators Prof. Amit Kumar Singla and Dr. Amar Santosh Singh Dean Student Welfare Coordinator Dr. Neha Jindal, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Pawan Kumar, IIC Coordinator Dr. Vandana Jindal welcomed The Civil Hospital team constituting of Dr. Usha Goyal (DHO), Dr. H.S. Hayer (SMO), Dr. Rakesh Goyal (MO), Dr. Rozy (DTO)/District Aids Control Officer, Dr. Rajpaul, (Incharge OST Center, AIIMS), Dr. Mayank Jot (MO), Mr. Narinder Kumar (District BCC Coordinator), Ms Prabhjot Kaur (CPM DISHA).

Lecture on AIDS Awareness was given by Dr. Rakesh Goyal. The inquisitive listeners were informed about the Symptoms, Prevention Measures and General Misconceptions about AIDS, Drug Addiction and Causes of Increasing cases of Dengue. Dr. Usha Goyal informed the students and faculty members about the spread of Dengue. She also talked about first aid given to patient of Snake Bite and Dog Bite. She also told about the various medical facilities available at Civil Hospital and district level dispensaries. The guests were welcomed by Dr. Neha Jindal.

A Poster Making Competition on the theme of AIDS Awareness was organised in which Varinda, Kashish, Rajwant Kaur, and Parteek were awarded.

Towards Conclusion, Prof. Neha Sharma extended the Vote of Thanks.
