To conduct various departmental activities student committee was constituted. Committee represents students of political science from undergraduate and post graduate courses.
Vision
Association of Political Science Students (APSS) is an open forum in which students and fellow members of the academic community can share their opinions and ideas, while promoting a thoughtful and constructive discourse. Apart from representing the interests of students in the Political Science department, APSS actively engaged in hosting a variety of events that are geared at enhancing the learning experience for students in political science at the D.A.V. College Bathinda. Events include discussions, guest lecturers, academic seminars where renowned scholars, academicians and social activists are invited.

Electoral literacy club of DAV College Bathinda and District Election office,Bathinda organized Voter Awareness Programme. The Awareness Programme included new voter registration, speech and Poster making competition. Principal Dr Rajeev Sharma, Registrar Prof Satish Grover and SVEEP incharge Prof. Pawanpreet Singh welcomed the District Election office representatives Sh Gurbaksh Lal and Sh. Summit.
Prof.Pawanpreet Singh , SVEEP Nodal Officer introduced the theme and relevance of the awareness programme in his inaugural address.
Sh. Gurbaksh Lal informed the audience about the role of the SVEEP and how such awareness activities are some steps to mobilize voters and ensure maximum participation in elections.
Students were actively involved in speech and poster making competition by touching many themes of importance of vote in democracy. In speech competion First Postion was held by Suhana of BA 3, Second by Rampy Kaur of MA and poster making First postion was held by Rajandeep Kaurof MA and second by Suhana of BA 3

National Voters Day Celebrated at DAV College Bathinda on 25 Januarary 2025
DAV College Bathinda under SVEEP initiative celebrated National Voters Day in the college by observing oath taking ceremony. The oath was administered by Prof. Pawanpreet Singh, SVEEP initiative in-charge.
The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, the staff members and the students took the oath to uphold the democratic traditions of the country and cast vote without any fear or prejudice.
Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated this initiative of Election Commission of India for making the voters aware of importance of their voting rights and encouraged the new eligible Voters to get registered and become part of the electoral process of India. DAV College Bathinda celebrates National Constitution Day on 27 November 2024
The events main purpose is to generate constitutional values among the citizens. Prof Pawanpreet Singh , Head, Department of Political Science stated the importance of celebrating Constitution Day. Harleen Kaur of BA 3 student inform the audience regarding constitutional values of liberty, equality, justice and fraternity and how we practice these values in our daily life. It promotes national unity among the citizens. The event was concluded with oath taking ceremony administered by Harleen Kaur of BA 3 Student. Dr Satish Grover, Prof Gursewak Singh, Prof Varinder Singh, Prof Karamjeet Kaur, Prof Gurwinder Kaur, Prof Manjeet Kaur grace the occasion.

The Awareness Programme included Voter awareness songs, Speeches, One act play and Gidha.The participants from the various educational institutions of the vicinity naming:DAV College Bathinda, DAV School Bathinda ,Adarsh Senior Secondary School Bathinda and Arya Girls School spread the message of casting vote judiciously through various art forms.

Inayat,DDF Sh.Sujeet Kishan, Principal of DAV School Dr. Anuradha Bhatia, ELC Incharge Adarsh Senior Secondary School Smt.Navneet, SVEEP Nodal officer Urban Bathinda Smt.Meena Bharti and her team.

Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, appealed the students to participate actively in the electoral process.He said the Students must be aware of the candidates and their manifestos.Also the Students need to ask questions to their represtantives regarding their ideology, their anticipated policies ,programs and map for development.The programme concluded with oath taking ceremony for vote.

Electoral Literacy Club of DAV College Bathinda and District Election office organized Ballot Bistro, an initiative for voter awareness and maximum participation of young voters in upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Sh Suresh Gaur Assistant Nodal officer SVEEP, Bathinda host the program and talked about importance of youth in electoral participation. Topics of discussion consist of urban voter apathy, first time voters, issues concerning the voters etc.Sh. Suresh Gaur encouraged students for maximum participation in upcoming elections.Also, Students must ask questions to their representatitives regarding policies and programmes for their welfare. Sh. Gaur told the audience that boycott of elections is not a solution in democratic system.
Students asked various questions regarding the electoral process and actively participated in the discussion.
Prof.Pawanpreet Singh informed students regarding the importance of debate and discussion for voter awareness.He further added ,”If youth actively participates in the electoral process, their issues will be definitely become priorities in the elections.”
The Principal of the College Dr.Rajeev Kumar Sharma said,”Students must be aware of their candidates and they need to participate attentively in electoral process. He also thanked Sh. Suresh Gaur for organizing a healthy debate to increase the legitimacy of the electoral process.
DAV College Bathinda organises Voter Awareness Camp on 13 March 2024
Under SVEEP (Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation) initiative , Electoral Literacy Club of DAV College Bathinda organized Voter Awareness Camp. Various activities were included in this camp like Online Vote Making, Operationalization of EVM. Students adelivered influencing Speeches to promote the Electoral system of India and voter awareness lectures by the eminent guests were organised.
The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma formally welcomed the SVEEP team member Smt. Meena Bharti Nodal officer Bathinda (Urban),Sh. Suresh Gaur Assistant Nodal Officer Bathinda, Sh. Gurbaksh Lal, Sh. Johnny Singla and other SVEEP members.Smt Meena Bharti detailed about the purpose of SVEEP and informed the students about various initiatives of Election Commission to mobilize young voter to actively particaipate in the election process. Sh.Gurbaksh Lal talked about the importance of Elections in democracy and informed students regarding the online vote making procedure. Sh. Jhonny Singla conducted an informative quiz;raising questions regarding political system of India and rewarded the winners.Sh. Suresh Gaur Assistant Nodal Officer Bathinda responded to various questions raised by new voters regarding EVM and a mock poll session was conducted . First time voters actively participate in this process.
Students actively participate in this awareness camp.Harleen Kaur , Deepak Kumar, Satinder Kaur, Lovejeet Singh, Rimpy Kaur delivered speeches about the electrol process of India.Many Sudents were also registed as new voters through mobile app.
Dr.Rajeev Kumar encouraged first time voters to activalely participate in upcoming Lok sabha elections and stressed on the idea that Elections are the most important mechanism to claim for the rights of the citizens.
Prof.Pawanpreet Singh, Head Department of Political Science and Nodal officer SVEEP of DAV College discussed about the level of trust about election process amongst the citizens of India. He recounted various periodic initiatives taken by Election Commssion of India since indepencedece such as Transparency about the Candidates and the sources of political funding, Electronic Voting Machines and how these initiatives aided in establishing faith in the system.He thanked the guests of the camp and the participants.Smt. Operationalisation of EVM / VVPAT conducted at DAV College Bathinda on 4 march 2024
Under SVEEP initiative operationalisation of EVM/VVPAT was conducted at DAV College Bathinda.The team from Election Office detailed the various aspects of EVM/ VVPAT .The students and the faculty members witnessed and participated in the demonstration of the working of EVM/VVPAT.Mock Polling was held and the results were shown to the participants.New voters raised various technical queries.
The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the efforts of the Election Commission of India and conveyed that such initiatives can bring awareness and establish faith regarding the Electoral Process,amongst the citizens of the country.Also, he encouraged the new voters to participate with heart and zeal in the upcoming elections.He applauded Prof.Pawanpreet Singh,Nodal Officer,SWEEP for taking required initiatives in arranging the Electoral demonstration.
