Students Society for Higher Mathematics has been constituted to enrich the students to acquire knowledge and understanding of Pure Mathematics covering Analysis, Algebra and ability to apply this knowledge in other fields.
Activities of the Society
• The society has organized various activities like celebrating Pie day, Teacher’s Day, Extension Lectures, Quiz Competitions and various Educational Tours.
• Students of society also participate in Yoga Day, NSS Camps and Sports Meet.

Activities of Higher Mathematics :-
“Poser Presentation” 12-03-2025
The Post Graduate Department of Mathematics DAV college, Bathinda Onganised a series of engaging events on 12-March-2025 to make the significance of Mathematics in academic and Practical spheres. The Students of student Society of higher Mathematics with the students of M.Sc. I & M.Sc – II organizes poster presentation competition.
The Student of Student society and other Students welcomed Prof. Atul Singla (HOD). As many as 45 posters, Presented by students of M.Sc, B.Sc. , B.A. were elegantly displayed in the Corridors of the Mathematics Department. The event was well received by the students, members and faculty who appreciated the conceptual exhibits and engaged in a discussion to gain a deeper understanding. The prize was distributed to the winners. In the end, Mathematics faculty members Prof. Atul Singla, Prof. Munish Kumar, Prof. Amit Sharma, Prof. Ramandeep Kohli and Prof. Sahil Garg gave their blessings to the students and wished them good luck in their careers.
“Sanskiritk Mela” 15-02-2025
On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, the Hindi and Youth Welfare Department of DAV College Bathinda under the aegis of “Ek Bharat Shreesht Bharat”. In this event, the P.G. Department of Mathematics depicted the rich and beautiful culture of Vrindavan (known as the land of Lord Krishna). The representation was conducted under the supervision of HOD (Mathematics) Sh. Atul Singla Sir along with other faculties of Mathematics department, the vision was very clear to keep things real and representable.
Students of MS.c. Misha, Varsha, Rohit, Mohit, Sheetal, Sakshi, Harshika and students of B.Sc. Amandeep, Vanita, Sarita, Akanksha were part of this team. The combined team of teachers and students depicted the following:
Lord Krishna in his proper attire, 56 Bhog, 4 Vedas of Hindu religion. The entire representation and beauty of Vrindavan.
The overall presentation was praised by the Principal of DAV College Bathinda (Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma) and the judges also acknowledged and praised it highly as it was an event full of joy and learning.
“Swachhta Campaign” 4-10-2024
A Swachhta Campaign was conducted by the Students Society for higher Mathematics with the support of the Department of Mathematics in the separate premises of DAV College, Bathinda on October 04, 2024. The objective of the activity was to sensitize the students about the cleanliness of the surroundings. President Misha Aggarwal and Vice President Mohit Kumar spearheaded this initiative and worked in team with other students to achieve the goal.
The students of M.S.-I and M.Sc – II participated in this drive with full enthusiasm and motivated their fellow students to do the same. The day started with cleaning the common rooms for girls and proceeded to the Botanical Garden. Then they cleaned the Mathematics department, classrooms and the corridor respectively. The activity ended with a group photo of the students with Mathematics faculty members Prof. Atul Singla, Prof. Munish Kumar, Prof. Amit Sharma, Prof. Ramandeep Kohli and Prof. Sahil Garg, who gave their blessings to the students and wished them good luck for their careers.
“TEACHER DAY CELEBRATION” 5-09-2024
The Post Graduate Department of Mathematics celebrated Teacher’s Day on 5-Sep-2024. The students of higher mathematics of M.Sc._I with the students of M.Sc –II welcomed Prof. Atul Singla (HOD) with a bouquet of flowers. The celebrations began with a welcome song. Prof. Atul Singla (HOD) gave his views on Dr. Radhakrishnan and his intellectual contribution to education. The song performance and fun games remained the highlights of this event. At the end, all the teachers of the Department of Mathematics, Prof. Atul Singla, Prof. Munish Kumar, Prof. Amit Sharma, Prof. Ramandeep Kohli and Prof. Sahil Garg gave their blessings to the students and wished them good luck for their careers.
“FLOWER SHOW” 07-03-2024
DAV College Bathinda, organized 3rd Spring Flower Show to celebrate National Science Day 2024. Third Spring Flower Show to celebrate National Science Day for Viksit Bharat with focus on Indigenous Technology The aim of the event was to promote the spirit and opportunities of studying and exploring the environment among science students.
The event included moments of hilarity and merriment while all the faculty members and non-teaching staff were engaged in games. The show witnessed a number of participants from MRSPTU and Govt. Rajindra College. Orane International Institute of Hair and Make up had put up a stall for nail art. The Principal of the college, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma addressed the gathering and appreciated the overwhelming participation.
“Sanskritik Mela” 21-02-2024
On the occasion of International Mother Language Day 2024, the Hindi and Youth Welfare Departments of DAV College Bathinda organised the Sanskritik Mela – 2024. This cultural fair showcased the rich cultural heritage of various states.
The various departments of the university represented the diverse culture of different states like Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Kerela, Kashmir, Tamilnadu, Bihar, Sikkim etc. less than 110 participants from 17 teams participated in this event.
The mathematics department represents the culture of the state of Sikkim. In Sikkim, there are various stalls of jewellery, Budha statues, 3 traditional Nepali tables, Bhutia, Lipcha, from the state of Sikkim. More than 23 food items related to the culture of Sikkim and agricultural products can also be found at the stalls. The second place in the cultural fair was claimed by the Department of Mathematics for displaying the culture of Sikkim. The event ended with joy in the hearts of all the students, staff, guests and the judges.
“BASANT PANCHAMI” 15-02-2024
“DAV College Bathinda organised activities related to “Basant Panchami” a day after the festival, i.e. on February 15, 2024, to add another blossoming bud to the bouquet. The students of Higher Mathematics Society and Department of Mathematics participated in the flying activities Students of M.Sc-I and M.Sc-II classes are participating in the activities. Under the guidance of the faculty, teachers and students fly kites and enjoy the activities which are a lot of fun and enjoyment. The activities end with click photos with the teachers.
Swachhata hi Seva 03-10-2023
The Swachhta campaign was conducted on October 3, 2023 by the Higher Mathematics Student Society with the support of the Department of Mathematics in the premises of DAV College Bathinda. The aim of the campaign was to make students aware of cleaning and maintaining their surroundings
President Neha Rani and Vice President Dimple led this initiative and worked as a team with the other students to achieve the target. The students of M.Sc-I and M.Sc-II participated in this drive with full enthusiasm and motivated their fellow students to do the same
They did the needful for the Department of Mathematics, the classrooms and the respective corridors. The activity ended with a group photograph of the students with Professor Munish Kumar, Amit Sharma, Ramandeep Kohli and Sophia Rani.
