Electoral Literacy Club of DAV College Bathinda and District Election Office organized a ‘New Voter Registration’ Awareness Camp.(5-4-2024)

Under SVEEP (Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation) initiative District election office and Electoral Literacy Club of DAV College Bathinda organized a ‘New Voter Registration’ Awareness Camp. Prof. Pawanpreet Singh, Head Department of Political Science and Nodal officer SVEEP of DAV College and SVEEP Campus Ambassadors students Deepak Kumar, Harsimran Kaur, Lovejeet Singh and Harleen Kaur assisted the SVEEP Team of District administration. Students of the college actively participated in this voter registration drive of Election Commission of India to ensure the maximum participation of young voters. Around 27 new eligible students got themselves registered through online vote registration process and also experienced the online vote registration process.

The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the efforts of SVEEP team and campus ambassadors for this initiative to maximize the participation of young voters. Principal thanked the District Administration Officials Sh. Iqbal Singh, Sh. Mantu Sharma, Sh. Sandeep Singh, Sh. Sarabjit Singh and Sh. Kamaljit Singh for conducting this New Voter Registration camp in the campus of DAV College, Bathinda.

Debate competition was organized at DAV College Bathinda on the topic ‘Mobile Phone Hai To Jeevan Hai’.(4-4-2024)

DAV College Bathinda in association with ‘Daftar Zila Bhasha Afsar’ Bathinda and ‘Progressive Lekhak – Pathak Manch (Comantri)’ in the memory of Sh. Hartanveer Dhillon, Muradwala and Smt. Anita Bhopal, Rahimpura organised a Debate Competition on ‘Mobile Phone Hai To Jeevan Hai’. This Competition was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Sh. Darshan Singh Dhillon, Editor-in-Chief, ‘Comantri Charcha Magazine’, U.K. Eleven teams from different colleges participated whole heartedly in this competition.

The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma welcomed the distinguished guests and addressed the students. He discussed the idea of the significance of mobile phones in our lives, but at the same time it has to be used judiciously. Dr. Kirti Kirpal, District Language Office thanked Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma on being a helping hand in the successful organisation of the debate competition at the campus of DAV College, Bathinda. He welcomed Sh. Darshan Singh Dhillon, Sh. Hardeep Singh Tagad, Dr. Ajeetpal, Prof. Gurraj Singh Chahal, and the judges of the competition Sh. Gurprem Lehri, Writer, Sh. Baljeet Sharma, Assistant Director FM, Bathinda, Sh. Gurpreet Artist Bathinda and all the guests from various institutions.

Prof. Gurraj Singh Chahal, DAV College Abohar discussed the objective behind conducting this debate competition. Sh. Navpreet Singh conducted the stage. Dr. Darshan Singh Dhillon shared the key points to be considered while debating and congratulated all the participants. He motivated the students to read intensively and productively. Sh. Hardeep Singh Tagad was reminiscent of his own college days and shared his experiences with the students.

The first prize was awarded to Central University of Punjab, second to Govt. Polytechnic College Bathinda and Mata Sahib Kaur Girls College, Bathinda and third to PG Studies Department, Punjabi University, Regional Center Bathinda and Regional Center Punjabi University Talwandi Sabo. Gurwinder Singh was selected as the best Speaker of the Competition.

On this occasion, Head of Post Graduate Department of Punjabi Prof. Ravinder Singh and all the other members Punjabi department were present. Around 75 students of the college meticulously listened to the intellectual views of the participants.

DAV College Bathinda organises Voter Awareness Camp.(13/3/2024)

Under SVEEP (Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation) initiative, Electoral Literacy Club of DAV College Bathinda organized Voter Awareness Camp. Various activities were included in this camp like Online Vote Making and Operationalization of EVM. Students delivered influencing Speeches to promote the Electoral system of India and voter awareness lectures by the eminent guests were organised.

The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma formally welcomed the SVEEP team member Smt. Meena Bharti Nodal officer Bathinda (Urban), Sh. Suresh Gaur Assistant Nodal Officer Bathinda, Sh. Gurbaksh Lal, Sh. Johnny Singla and other SVEEP members. Smt Meena Bharti detailed about the purpose of SVEEP and informed the students about various initiatives of Election Commission to mobilize young voter to actively participate in the election process. Sh. Gurbaksh Lal talked about the importance of Elections in democracy and informed students regarding the online vote making procedure. Sh. Jhonny Singla conducted an informative quiz; raising questions regarding political system of India and rewarded the winners. Sh. Suresh Gaur Assistant Nodal Officer Bathinda responded to various questions raised by new voters regarding EVM and a mock poll session was conducted. First time voters actively participate in this process.

Students actively participate in this awareness camp. Harleen Kaur, Deepak Kumar, Satinder Kaur, Lovejeet Singh, Rimpy Kaur delivered speeches about the electrol process of India. Many Sudents were also registed as new voters through mobile app.

Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma encouraged first time voters to actively participate in upcoming Lok sabha elections and stressed on the idea that Elections are the most important mechanism to claim for the rights of the citizens.

Prof. Pawanpreet Singh, Head Department of Political Science and Nodal officer SVEEP of DAV College discussed about the level of trust about election process amongst the citizens of India. He recounted various periodic initiatives taken by Election Commission of India since independence such as transparency about the candidates, the sources of political funding, introduction of Electronic Voting Machines and how these initiatives aided in establishing faith in the system. He thanked the guests of the camp and the participants. Staff members of Department of Political Science Dr. Karamjeet Kaur, Dr. Gurwinder Kaur and Prof. Rupinder Singh were also present.

DAV College Bathinda organises Expert Lectures and Fun with Science Demonstrations to conclude the series of events on National Science Day 2024. (12-3-2024)

Faculty of Sciences of DAV College Bathinda in association with Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, National Council for Science and Technology Communication and Department of Science and Technology Government of India organised a series of events to celebrate National Science Day on focal theme,” Indigenous Technology for Viksit Bharat.” The Celebration of Science Day 2024 involved 03 days’ mega events naming Mission LiFE: Flower Show, Inter College Quiz Competition, Expert Talk and Fun With Science Demonstrations. The maxim of conducting a set of events on the occasion of National Science Day was to instill love for life, physical and chemical sciences amongst the enthusiastic and inquisitive learners and to provide them a platform to witness the omnipresence of science in our day to day activities.

The inferring event included Expert Lecture, delineating the thematic concern of Science and Technology. The experts of the ceremonious day were Prof. (Dr.) Ganga Ram Chaudhary, Director SAIF/CIL, Department of Chemistry, Panjab University Chandigarh and Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Chairperson, Department of Environmental Studies Panjab University Chandigarh were extended a cordial welcome by Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Principal DAV College Bathinda, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Head, Department of Chemistry Prof. Meetu S. Wadhwa, Prof. Aman Malohtra, Dr. Parveen Bala and Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh.

Dr. Neha Jindal and Dr. Paramjeet Kaur handled the stage. Prof. Aman Malhotra gracefully introduced the scholarly speakers to the audience. The expert of the day Dr. G.R. Chaudhary began his remarkable lecture by digging deep into the historical background of Panjab University and it’s contribution in the field of Science through Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facilities (SAIF) lab; a valuable platform to witness the wonders of science. He elaborated on the contribution of Green Nanotechnology in the process of treatment of waste water. He stressed on the promotion of native technologies by exemplifying about some small scale discoveries which proliferated at the Level of Industrial Scale. He was also reminiscent of the distinguished journey of Dr. C.V. Raman who is the ultimate example for every ordinary researcher in Science. The Session was chaired by the another eminent personality Dr. Rajeev Kumar who contributed at their best in making this session interactive and informative for the audience and also stressed on the advantages of adopting indigenous technology. Prof. Meetu S. Wadhwa shared her heartfelt Thanks giving note.

The Fun with Science Demonstrations brought forward a nuance experience of teaching and learning the complexities and intricacies of Sciences with playful and frisky methodologies which could elevate the yearning for locating science anywhere and everywhere amongst the learners. A set of 12 experiments were arranged for the lovers of science wherein the science was brought out from the slabs of practical labs under acute observation to be played with on the palms of the learners so as to inculcate scientific temperament and researching spirit.

The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma complimented the sincere and dedicated efforts of the Faculty of Science for bringing forward some outstanding and exhilarating course of actions for promoting ardent and fervent attitude amongst the students of Sciences and appealed them to promote the indigenous technology and boycott any foreign material and substitute them with the Indian equal which is the ultimate step in the destination of Viksit Bharat. DAV College Bathinda organises Inter College Quiz Competition to celebrate National Science Day 2024.(11 march 2024)

Faculty of Sciences of DAV College Bathinda in association with Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, National Council for Science and Technology Communication and Department of Science and Technology Government of India organised an Inter College Quiz Competition based on Science and Technology to celebrate National Science Day on focal theme,” Indigenous Technology for Viksit Bharat.” The Celebration of Science Day 2024 involved mega events scheduled on various days naming Mission LiFE: Flower Show, Inter College Quiz Competition, Expert Talk and Fun With Science Demonstrations (Scheduled on 12 March 2024). The objective of organising this quiz competition was to instill the spirit of inquiry amongst the students of Sciences and provide them a platform to demonstrate their knowledge.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Neha Jindal. The Stage was conducted by Prof. Eshu and Prof . Harpreet Kaur Brar was the Quiz Master. Twelve teams from far and wide participated in this Inter College Quiz Competition. The first position is achieved by the Cell team of SSD Girls College Bathinda, second prize is bagged by Photon team of DAV College Bathinda, third by Wave team of Govt. Rajindra College, Bathinda and Fourth by Atom team of Baba Farid College, Bathinda.

The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma addressed the gathering and appreciated the overwhelming participation of the students. He applauded the efforts of the faculty of Sciences for organising such an informative Contest.

DAV College Bathinda organises 3rd Spring Flower Show to celebrate National Science Day 2024. (7 March,2024)

Faculty of Sciences of DAV College Bathinda in association with Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, National Council for Science and Technology Communication and Department of Science and Technology Government of India are organising the Third Spring Flower Show to celebrate National Science Day on focal theme,” Indigenous Technology for Viksit Bharat.” The ultimate end of organising this show was to instill and enhance the spirit and opportunities of studying and researching the environment minutely amongst the students of Sciences.Ms. Gurwinder Kaur, Tehsildar, Bathinda and Dr. Navjot Gupta, Senior Horticulturist, RRS Bathinda were invited as Guests of Honor for the Festival of Flowers. Dr. K.K. Nohria, Senior Member Local Committee, Sh. Surinder Mohan, President M.H.R. School Bathinda, Sh. Chaudhary Partap Singh, Member Local Advisory Committee and Dr. Anuradha Bhatia, RB DAV Sen. Sec. Public School Bathinda also graced the occasion with their benign presence. The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Coordinators of the event Dr. Vandana Jindal, Prof. Meetu S. Wadwa, Dr. Neha Jindal, Dr. Amandeep Kaur offered floral welcome to the guests during felicitation ceremony. Dr. Amandeep Kaur performed the duty of adjudication.The pots and the participants from the vicinity were invited to participate in the flower show, where around 150 participants were registered with their pots, displaying the flamboyant and exquisite flowers and plants spreading their aromatic scents and adding to the blooming buds of the Botanical Garden of DAV College, Bathinda. The decored Bonsai, Cactus, Ornamental Plants and Potted Flowers were examined meticulously by the students of botany and zoology. Various competitions were organised like Flower Arrangement, Bouquet Making, Floral jewellery, Miniature Landscape, Floral Photography, Fruit/ Vegetable/Basket, Pot Painting, Nail Art painting and Tattoo Making depicting the floral themes. The Prize distribution ceremony was performed by Dr. K.K. Nohria. The event included the moments of merriment and gaiety while all the members of teaching and non teaching staff were engaged in the fun filled games.The Show witnessed the participants from MRSPTU and Govt. Rajindra College. Orane International Institute of Hair and Make up set up their stall of Nail Art. The visitors showed much enthusiasm for the show and had elaborated discussion during the fragrant walk with the participants. The embellished and adorned Botanical Garden was appreciated by all. The students of DAV College, Bathinda, MRSPTU Bathinda and Govt. Rajindra College, Bathinda won exciting prizes in various categories of plants display and different competitions. Operationalization of EVM / VVPAT conducted at DAV College Bathinda.(4-3-2024)

Under SVEEP initiative operationalization of EVM/VVPAT was conducted at DAV College Bathinda. The team from Election Office detailed the various aspects of EVM/ VVPAT. The students and the faculty members witnessed and participated in the demonstration of the working of EVM/VVPAT. Mock Polling was held and the results were shown to the participants. New voters raised various technical queries.The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the efforts of the Election Commission of India and conveyed that such initiatives can bring awareness and establish faith regarding the Electoral Process, amongst the citizens of the country. Also, he encouraged the new voters to participate with heart and zeal in the upcoming elections. He applauded Prof. Pawanpreet Singh, Nodal Officer, SVEEP for taking required initiatives in arranging the Electoral demonstration.

He acknowledged the contributing efforts of DAV College Bathinda in their intellectual march with the motif of sustainable development.The Key-note speaker Prof. (Dr.) Balbir Singh Kaith addressed the audience on “Ecofriendly biomaterials and their applications in different fields.” Technical session I and 2 were chaired by Dr. Balbir Singh Kaith.The Technical Session included invited Talk by Prof. (Dr.) Rohit Mehra, Department of Physics, NIT, Jalandhar on the topic “Standardization in the process for measurement of Radon and Thoron and their progenies in the Environment using SSNTD.” Second Invited Talk was delivered by Prof. Mohamad Yusuf, Department of Chemistry, Punjabi University Patiala, in which he discussed “Organic Photochemistry: A glimpse of the synthetic applications.” Third Invited talk was conducted by Dr. Avneet Pal Singh, Department of Botany, Punjabi University Patiala on the topic,” Mushrooms- The Functional Foods.”Around 60 Research Papers and 150 Posters by the faculty, Research Scholars and Students were presented in the conference depicting the theme of Sustainable Development. Dr. Rajesh Kumar, DAV College Dasuya, Dr. Girish Kumar, DAV College Dasuya were the judges for oral presentations and Dr. Puneet Puri, DAV College Jalandhar, Dr. Navjeet, DAV College Jalandhar, and Dr. Suneeta Rani, Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo were the eminent judges for the evaluation of Posters. The first prize for the poster making(Chemistry) Student Category was bagged by Sarmati Government College of Science Education and Research, Jagraon and in Research Scholars category was received by Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology.In Oral Presentation (Chemical Science), Research Category the prize was bagged by Ms. Aditi Sharma and in (Life Sciences), Research Category the prize is received by Sheikh Showkat Ahmad and in Student Category by Lovepreet Singh.The prize for the posters (Physics) in student category was received by SD College Barnala, and in Research Scholars category by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. In (Life Science) in Student Category SD College, Barnala was declared winner and in Research Scholar Category Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar bagged the prize.The Principal of the College expressed his pleasure over this intellectual voyage towards the culture of sustainability and appealed to the researchers to abide by their researched content in heart and spirit. DAV College Bathinda Organises Sanskritik Mela – 2024

On the occasion of International Mother Language Day-2024, the Departments of Hindi and Youth Welfare of DAV College Bathinda organized the Sanskritik Mela- 2024. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Prof. Baljinder Kaur (MLA Punjab Legislative Assembly, Talwandi Sabo). Other distinguished guests who graced the occasion with their presence were Dr. K.K. Nohria (Senior Member Local Advisory Committee), Madam Vimal Garg (Member Local Advisory Committee), Dr. Anuradha Bhatia (Principal DAV School, Bathinda) and Sarpanch Nachattar Singh. The Chief Guest and the distinguished guests were welcomed by the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Coordinator Youth Welfare Department Dr. Paramjit Kaur, HoD Hindi Dr. Monica Ghulla, Dean IIC Dr. Vandana Jindal, Dean IQAC Dr. Pawan Kumar and Dr. Shishpal Jindal. The adjudicators of the Sanskritik Mela were Dr. Vikas Rathi (Assistant Prof. Department of History, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda), Dr. Shashi Kalra (Retired Prof. Dept. of Music, DAV College, Gidderbaha) and Mr. Gurpreet Singh (Renowned Artist). The rich cultural heritage of various states was exhibited in this cultural fair. The different departments of the college represented the diverse culture of various states like Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Sikkim, Kashmir and Maharashtra. Various other novel and interesting stalls were also exhibited, like those of like Purani Khel Culture, Baniye Di Hatti, Tipu Sultan and NCC exhibition. As many as 110 participants of 17 teams participated in this event. The Chief Guest Prof. Baljinder Kaur expressed immense happiness on participating in the program and seeing the grand cultural bonanza put up by the students. She said that the Sanskritik Mela organised by DAV College is a microcosm of India’s cultural diversity and is representative of the youth’s impressionistic artwork, abundant enthusiasm and active participation. She further reiterated the thought that such programmes should be organized periodically as it enhances the cultural knowledge of the students and reveals the immortal heritage of India. Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma expressed his innate happiness after witnessing the organization of this grand Sanskritik Mela-2024 and the exhibition put up by the students. He thanked the Chief Guest and other guests for attending the event and encouraging the students. He said that in this cultural fair, India’s diversity has been woven into the formula of unity and housed under one roof. He also stated that through this exhibition of various cultures, the students will get knowledge of multi-culturalism and have definitely gained knowledge about food, clothing, various items of jewellery, arts and sports of various states of our country. He applauded the Hindi Department and Youth Welfare Department for this grand event and congratulated all the participating and winning teams. The Jury was delighted to see the magnificent exhibitions of various cultures put up in this cultural fair and appreciated the college for organizing this event. The first position in the cultural Fair was bagged by the Department of Punjabi for showcasing Punjabi Culture, second in league was the Department of Mathematics for depicting the culture of Sikkim, the Department of English won the third prize for displaying the cultural heritage of Goa. The consolation prize was received by the Department of Zoology for presenting the culture of Odisha.The event concluded with happiness pervading the hearts of all the students, staff, guests and the judges.

DAV College Bathinda organised the Kite Flying Competition.

The NSS and Student Welfare Department of DAV College Bathinda organised ‘Kite Flying Competition’ for the students. Around 250 students became the part of this celebrations of flying kites without the use of Chinese String and sought the blessings of Goddess Saraswati for better academic performances. The kites of vibrant hues were spread all over the sky. The students, the teachers and staff from Non teaching had a fun filled day. The idea behind the organising this event was to promote the spirit of harmony amongst students and rejuvenated them from their academic routine. The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma inaugurated the festival. He acknowledged the efforts of NSS Coordinators Prof. Amit Kumar Singla, Dr. Prabhjot Kaur and Dr. Amar Santosh and Dean Student Welfare(Girls) Dr. Neha Jindal, and Dean Welfare(Boys) Dr. Surinder Singla for organizing the mega event. Prof. Roop Singh also helped a great deal in making the necessary arrangements.

Havan Yajya at DAV College Bathinda. (1-2-2024)

The new semester at DAV College Bathinda started with Havan Yag. Vedic tradition was followed by placing Ahutis in the havan kund while chanting various mantras. The chief guest Dr. KK Nohria Senior Member Local Committee graced the occasion. All the staff members wished for the welfare of the college by putting ahutis in the Havan. The College Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma urged the students and teachers to work hard in this new academic session so that this institution can touch more heights. The Arya Samaj Committee of the college organized this program ritualistically. Teaching and non-teaching staff were present on this occasion.

National Voters Day Celebrated at DAV College Bathinda.

DAV College Bathinda under SVEEP initiative celebrated National Voters Day in the college by observing oath taking ceremony. The oath was administered by Jaspreet Kaur of BA-I.The Principal of the College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, the staff members and the students took the oath to uphold the democratic traditions of the country, and cast vote without any fear or prejudice.Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated this initiative of Election Commission of India for making the voters aware of importance of their voting rights and encouraged the new eligible Voters to get registered and become part of the electoral process of India. An atmosphere of mellowness and merriment was observed in the garden of DAV College Bathinda on this auspicious occasion of Lohri. Pious bonfire was lit and the offering of peanuts, popcorns and rewari was served. The sacred festival was marked by the celebration of the birth of the little ones of Prof. Pawanpreet and Dr. Monika Ghulla and pre marriage of Prof Gurdeep Singh.The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh and the faculty members congratulated the proud parents and Prof. Gurdeep Singh. Annual Edition of College Magazine “Sandeep” of DAV College Bathinda released.

Continuing with the tradition of College Magazine, the most awaited annual Edition named “Sandeep ” was released on December 6, 2023 in the benin presence of Dr. K.K. DAV College, Bathinda organised Mehandi Competition

The NSS unit of DAV College, Bathinda organised Mehndi Competition on the eve of Karva Chauth. As many as 22 students participated in the event and applied artistic mehndi designs on the hands of female faculty members and girls of the college.Dr. Satish Grover, Registrar of the College and Dr. Vandana Jindal judged the Mehandi designs meticulously.The first position was bagged by Jasmine (BA-I), Second by Vijay Laxmi (BA-II) and third by Gobind (B.Com-II). The Consolation prize was awarded to Lovepreet Kaur (B.Sc.-I) and Komalpreet Kaur (BA-II). The Post Matric Scholarship Committee, DAV College, Bathinda organised an Awareness Drive.

On October 17, 2023 The Post Matric Scholarship Committee (PMSC), DAV College, Bathinda scheduled an Awareness Drive for SC students who are eligible for Post Matric Scholarship. Prof. Gurdeep Singh Nodal Officer(PMSC), delivered an elaborated lecture on the significance of the Post Matric Scholarship scheme. He made students aware about the required documents and the complete procedure of application.All the other members of the committee Prof. Ramadeep Kohli, Prof. Samaveer Kaur, Prof. Asha Goyal, Prof. Lakhveer Singh and Mrs. Bandana encouraged the students to arrange for the documents timely. DAV College, Bathinda observed ‘Swachh Bharat Divas’ on October 2, 2023

NSS, NCC and Youth Welfare Department of DAV College, Bathinda resolutely observed Swachh Bharat Divas to celebrate the ‘Jan Andolan’ for swachata as a tribute to the Mahatma Gandhi’s Swachh Bharat Mission.

A total of 308 NSS and 25 NCC volunteers along with the teaching and non teaching staff of DAV College Bathinda participated in the event.

The Principal of the college, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma had all the words of appreciation for the efforts of Lt. Anti-Dengue Campaign

A team from civil hospital Bathinda visited the campus for carrying out anti-dengue campaign creating awareness among the students that how they can protect themselves from being infected by the dengue mosquito. Mr. Bhupinder Singh from the health department highlighted the points regarding the same.

Festival of Science at DAV Bathinda Concluded Ceremoniously.

The display of the exhibits attracted the attention of many even on the day of valediction. The day began with an engaging lecture on “Antarctica and Himalayan Geology ” by Dr. Jitendra Patnaik, Central University of Punjab. Open Science Quiz on Indian scientist resulted in much exhilaration in the Hall. The Valedictory function began in the gracious presence of eminent scholars Sh. The award of appreciation for One Act Play was received by GSSS, Bhucho Khurd and for Nukkad Natak the prize was bagged by GSSS, Kot Bakhtu, Bathinda. At School level Quiz competition the first prize was awarded to Govt. Nahiwal School, the second to Govt. Girls Sen. Sec. School, Mall Road, Bathinda and the third to Silver Oaks School, Bathinda.

At College Level Quiz Competition, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda was honoured with first, Govt. Rajindra College with the second and third prizes. In Model Presentation School of Eminence, Kot Shamer, GSSS Jhumba, Khalsa Senior Secondary School (Boys), Talwandi Sabo, St. Joseph Convent School, Bathinda, GHS Tarkhanwala, RB DAV Senior Secondary School, Bathinda, GSSS Bhucho Mandi, GSSS Mehma Sarja received the awards of appreciation. At School Level Poster Presentation Competition Little Flower Public Senior Secondary School got the first and third, St. Joseph Punjabi Convent School got the second prize.

During the concluding moments Dr. Neetu Purohit read the Valedictory Note. Dr. Dharamveer heartedly thanked and honoured Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Principal, DAV College, Bathinda, Coordinators Prof. Meetu S Wadhwa, Prof. Aman Malohtra, Dr. K.S. Bhatt, Director, Punjab State Council, District Administration and District Education Office for their strong determination and commitment to make this event a grand show. Prof. Meetu S Wadhwa congratulated everyone and proposed the formal vote of thanks. She thanked District Administration for encouraging such events which promote the scientific zeal among the students.

The three days grand programme observed a plethora of crowd, estimated 7000 from various institutions and other local visitors. A total of 188 Schools and Colleges participated in the mega fest.18 Exhibits from various Universities and Institutes were displayed. The grandeur of this Festival of Science was further escalated with the Army Weapons and Air Force Display.

Second Day of the Festival of Science (Vigyan Mela) witnessed huge Pomp and Show.

The events of the day included Quiz Competitions, Poster Presentation, Model displaying, Nukad Natak, One Act Play Major attractions of the event involved Lab on Wheels, Circus of Science, Hands-On-Geometry, 3 D Printing ,Robotics and Drones, Science Communication through Puppetry, Environment and Climate Change, Night-Sky Watching, Innovations by Young Scientists, Science Stage Shows, Telescope Making Workshop, Open Science Theatre Science Books Exhibition, Artillery Exbhition, NDRF Life Saving Demonstrations.

The event began with a lecture on “Environmental Crisis or Climate Change” by Prof. Ravindra K. Jassal. Followed by the scholarly lecture was the experience sharing of students of District Bathinda who visited Shriharikota to witness the launch of Chandrayan-3 and Aditya L-1. Students had interaction with scientists from Central University of Punjab, Akal University, Guru Kashi University, PGI. Nukad Natak Competitions were arranged and One Act Play was acted in front of the inquisitive audience.

Afternoon session included quiz competition for the school students, which was followed by a visit to Innovation Hub of DAV College, Bathinda. Open Quizzes for all spread much excitement in the Hall.

Students and the other guests of the Day showed much excitement for the Telescope Making Workshop, Science based One Act Play Chandrayan by CUP, Movies/Videos on Space and Astronomy. Sky watch, guided by SPSTI volunteers was another major enriching experience of the Day II. The college witnessed footfall of around 2500 students from various schools and colleges.

Festival of Science (Vigyan Mela) inaugurated by Air Commodore Prem Kumar Krishnaswami at DAV College, Bathinda.

The three days Festival of Science (Vigyan Mela) was inaugurated by Air Commodore Prem Kumar Krishnaswami, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Bathinda at DAV College, Bathinda today i.e 04.10.2023. The Festival is being organized jointly by Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), Society for Promotion of Science & Technology in India (SPSTI) and School Education Department, Punjab under its science outreach program from 04-10-2023 to 06-10-2023 to exhibit and display science activities in interesting way so as to create interest in STEM subjects and inculcate scientific temper. The Vigyan Mela is also nurturing creativity for school and college students through competitions like quiz, posters, and model making.

Eminent personalities who addressed the participants in the inaugural session included Sh. Rahul Tewari, Secretary Science, Technology & Environment, Govt. of Punjab, Sh. Shiv Pal Goyal, DEO (SE), Prof Arun Grover, former Vice Chancellor, PU, Sh. Dharamvir and Dr. Keya Dharamvir from SPSTI and Dr. K.S. Bath, Joint Director, PSCST. The Vigyan Mela has impressive exhibition on artillery by Indian Army, Air Force and NDRF in addition to Activity Corners by eminent Resource Persons on: Visual Explanation of Geometry by S. Gurmeet Singh; Science Communication through Puppetry by Sh. Manmohan Lal and Health & Innovative Science Experiments by local colleges and schools. Special attractions are Lab on Wheels by Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Circus of Science, Night Sky Watching, Telescope making workshop, Robotics & Drones and Lectures on Science & Technology by SPSTI. An activity corner has been set up by Punjab State Climate Change Knowledge Centre of PSCST. There will also be an exhibition of books, film screenings and science stage shows.

The Festival of Science is bringing together around 8000 students of secondary schools and colleges of Bathinda who will visit the event in 3 days which included 2000 students on day one. 80 Science Models were exhibited by school students and 18 stalls have been put up by eminent Resource Persons, DAV College, MRSPTU, Adesh University, Guru Kashi University and Kheti Virasat Mission. Vigyan Mela has provided a unique environment for the students of the district to learn science in an interesting manner and will help to inculcate scientific temper in the young minds.

In the 6th to 8th Class Poster Making Competition Team Little Flower Senior Secondary School got the first and second, Silver Oaks School, Dabwali Road got the third prize. Little Flower School, Delhi public School, Govt. High School Chak, Ram Singh Wala bagged the Appreciations Prizes.

In the group of Class 9th to 10+2, R.B.D.A.V Sr. Sec. School was awarded first and the third prize, the second was awarded to Govt. Adarsh Sen. Sec. School, Canal Colony, Bathinda. Govt. Sr. Sen School Chak Fateh Singh Wala and Govt. Sr. Sec. School(Girls), Rampura Mandi received the Appreciations Prizes. At College Level, Govt. Rajindra College received the first and third, DAV College Bathinda the second prize.

A Multifaceted Extravaganza – Day-2 of Talent Hunt Organized by DAV College Bathinda. (20 & 21 Sep, 2023)

The precincts of DAV College Bathinda glowed with a vibrant tapestry of talent on the culmination of the “Talent Hunt” organized on September 21 & 22, 2023. Day -2 commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Guest of Honour Ms. Vimal Garg (Member, Local Advisory Committee), Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh, Bursar Prof. Aman Malhotra, Dean Placement & Career Counselling Cell Prof. Meetu S. Wadhwa, IQAC Coordinator Prof. Pawan Kumar and Youth Coordinator Dr. Paramjeet Kaur.

The event kicked-off with “Rhythm”- the Dance Show, which regaled the audience with captivating and mesmerizing array of solo and group dance performances. From Indian Classical to Bhangra and Giddha, the students set the stage rocking and enthralled the spectators. The versatility and panache displayed by the students made the judgment difficult. Acknowledging the efforts of the participants, excellence Awards were presented to Kuljeet Singh (BA III), Parwinder Singh (M.Com I) and Navdeep Singh (BA III) in Bhangra; Mehakpreet Kaur, Rishm and Himanshi in Solo Dance; Nidhi for Classical Dance; Ramandeep Kaur and Amandeep Kaur won the accolades in Group Dance and Simrandeep Kaur and Akashdeep Kaur were felicitated for Giddha.

The awe-inspiring Fine Arts Exhibition left the audience marveling at the artistic brilliance of the college students. Paintings, Sketches, Photographs, Rangoli Making, Cartooning, Folk Art pieces adorned the walls of the gallery and displayed the vivid imagination of the young artists. The depth and the breadth of the artists’ talent was rewarded with appreciation in various categories. Meenu (B.Com III), Harmanjot Kaur (M.Sc. Chemistry) won the prizes in Rangoli Competition, Anjali Kumari (B.Sc. III) and Varinda (B.SC. I) bagged the prizes in On the spot painting competition, Garima Saini (B.Com III) and Lovepreet Kaur (B.Sc I) won the accolades in Poster Competition ; Jashanpreet Kaur (B.Com II) and Happy (BA II) earned the praises for Cartooning; Gagandeep Singh (BA II), Manish (BA II) and Vikramjeet (BA II) were appreciated for Photography and Lok Kalawan witnessed Kamalpreet Kaur clinching the titles for Pakhi and Manpreet Kaur for Guddiyan Patole.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma expressed immense satisfaction at being a witness to the artistic prowess of the students on the different stages. He stated that the two days event “Talent Hunt” is an attempt at tapping the latent multifaceted aspects of the student community and in the process promoting holistic development, fostering creativity and encouraging participation among students. This in turn keeps alive the positive ambience of the college and promotes mutual harmony amongst all. He greatly applauded the dedicated efforts of the Youth Coordinator Dr. Paramjeet Kaur and all the team in-charges for the meticulous planning and execution of the event.

The gala event concluded with the faculty and the students dancing to the jazzy beats of the DJ and celebrating the transformative power of creative arts.

DAV College, Bathinda Plays a Part in Plastic Free Environment Drive. (14 Sep., 2023)

On September 14, 2023, the NSS unit of DAV College, Bathinda participated in ” Plastic Free Environment Drive”, under “Zero Waste Campaign”, organised by Municipal Corporation, Bathinda.

The NSS volunteers of the college extended their whole hearted services to the campaign which was organised in collaboration with Sanitation Branch of Municipal Corporation, Bathinda and Trees Lovers’ Society. 23 volunteers participated in this campaign and helped in sanitizing the area, near Power House Road, Bathinda.

The campaign was launched to create awareness amongst the residence to keep their surroundings Plastic Free. Principal of the college, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the perpetual efforts made by the NSS unit for the beautification of the city.

DAV College, Bathinda hosts, ‘Khedo Panjab Wdho Punjab’, at District level.

The playground of DAV College, Bathinda was seen adorned with the presence of the players of various games. Boys and Girls Cricket Matches and Kabaddi Matches in National as well as Circle Style are going to be organised in this Two Days Tournament.

On the first day of the tournament Cricket and Kabadi Matches were played among various Zones at District level. Zone 1 brings home the beacon of the first position in the Cricket Match, Zone 2 bagging the second and Zone 3, the third. The students played their best part in their respective games and were much excited for the Day Two.

The Principal of the College graced the inaugural event, while wishing the players, the best of their luck and encouraged them to participate enthusiastically in the sports of all kind. He expressed his gratitude towards the District Administration for giving us the opportunity of organizing this event in the college. He applauded the efforts made by Prof Kuldeep Singh, Head of the Physical Education Department and Prof. Nirmal Singh for making all the necessary arrangements to make this event a success. The players were seen stimulated with the presence of Cricket Coach Sh Rajiv Mohanty, Kabaddi Coach Sh. Madal Lal, Sh. Baldev Krishan Sharma, Prof. Vikas Duggal and Prof. Ranjeet Singh. Much exhilaration was seen amongst the players for the upcoming tournament.

DAV College Bathinda Organizes Interactive Session on Post Matric Scholarship

The Post matric Scholarship Committee of DAV College Bathinda organized an induction programme for the students of minority community of the college. More than 100 students participated in this programme.

Prof. Gurdeep Singh, Nodal Officer, delivered a detailed lecture on post matric scholarship scheme. He introduced the students to the benefits of this scheme, eligibility conditions, documents required and the procedure to apply for this scheme.

All the rules and regulations regarding this scheme were discussed by Ms. Bandana (Accounts Office) and a flex, displaying the detailed instructions was also put up for the convenience of the students.
Mr. Ashish Jindal, Branch Manager, Punjab National Bank, gave information and made the students aware about the opening of savings account. Also present on the occasion were Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover and Prof. Shamsher Khan.

Addressing the students, Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar said that the college always considers it a moral responsibility to empower the academic and career goals of the bright aspirants by removing the financial barriers and offering various scholarships and concessions. Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, he stated, is a step towards providing financial assistance to meritorious students from minority communities. DAV College Bathinda Celebrates Independence Day(14 Aug 2023)

The 77th anniversary of India’s Independence was celebrated with great reverence and enthusiasm at DAV College Bathinda. The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover and Prof. Meetu Sukhija extended a warm welcome to the guests, namely, Prof. N.K. Gosain (Retd. Professor), Prof. Sukhija (Retd. Professor) and Mr. Sukhmeet Bhasin (Senior Press Correspondent, The Tribune). To commemorate this auspicious occasion, various competitions were organised, like declamation, poetry recitation and patriotic songs. The whole atmosphere pervaded with soulful renditions by the students, paying tribute to the motherland and the freedom fighters.

In the patriotic song competition, Mehak (BA I) stood first, Agnavi, Sanjog and Deepak (BA II) stood second and Shubham Kumar (BA III) secured third position. In the poetry recitation, Komalpreet Kaur (BA II) stood first, Sukhwinder Singh (BA I) stood second and Anjali (B.Sc. III) secured third position. The competition gave students an opportunity to gain more understanding about the independence struggle, the sacrifices made by the martyrs and the freedom fighters. The outpourings were effectively captured in emotional tones by the young brigade. Declamation witnessed Mandeep Kaur (M.Sc.II, Chemistry), Harleen Kaur (BA II) and Gogula Lakshmi (B.Com III Honours) securing first, second and third position respectively.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma in his overwhelming speech stated that on this auspicious occasion, the college pays tribute to the martyrs and elicits outpourings of love, respect and sacrifice for the motherland. DAV College, Bathinda Students Participate in ‘Yuva Sangam’, An initiative of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ Venture (7 June 2023)

With a view to support cross cultural learning, DAV College Bathinda encouraged its students to participate in ‘Yuva Sangam’, a student exchange programme under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme, an initiative by Government of India. Mantaj Singh (B.Sc.III) got the opportunity to visit Manipur University in the phase I of ‘Yuva Sangam’ and in the phase II of this programme, a group of four students, namely , Yashmeet Kaur (B.Sc. III), Mehakpreet Kaur, Dhiraj Thakur (B.Sc. II) and Pankaj Singla (B. Com II) visited IIT Mumbai.

The visit to Manipur University commenced from Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. During this student exchange programme, students interacted with the faculty and research scholars and learnt about the laboratories and research facilities available there.

The tour to IIT Mumbai was a great learning experience for the students. It started from NIT, Jalandhar. Visiting the campus, interacting with the faculty, students, researchers and learning about the state of the art facilities available at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, gave them an epistemic insight into the world of science.

DAV College Bathinda Celebrates World Environment Day (5 June 2023)

DAV College Bathinda celebrated “World Environment Day” in the college campus to create consciousness amongst the youth towards conserving the environment. Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh; Retd. Prof. Madan Lal and the HoDs and faculty members of all the departments, coordinators of various units like NCC, NSS, Student Welfare, Red Ribbon Club, Youth Welfare, Physical Education and many others planted saplings of varied species in the college ground with great enthusiasm. The faculty and the students also took the pledge to water and nurture the saplings planted by their respective departments and the units on daily basis.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma stated that the theme of this year’s Environment Day “Solutions to Plastic Pollution” should be followed in letter and spirit. The use of harmful plastic should be banned, which if not controlled, can prove to be hazardous for all species. He further added that such plantation drives are a solution to sensitize the youth towards taking all suitable measures for combating the environmental issues and conserving nature. He exhorted the students to participate in this drive wholeheartedly and support the government in making the environment clean and safe.

DAV College Bathinda Commences Certificate Course in “Spoken English” (17 April 2023)

The Department of English, DAV College Bathinda has initiated a certificate course in “Spoken English” for the students of the college. The inquisitiveness of the enthusiastic students knew no bounds on the first day of the course and they raised many questions on the key components of the course including Grammar, Fluency, Vocabulary and Pronunciation.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kr. Sharma congratulated the students for showing keen interest in these classes. He said that in today’s global era, learning English language has become the need of the hour. Therefore, attending these classes would enhance their communication skills and help them develop a strong vocabulary. He also applauded the efforts of the Head, Department of English Dr. Satish Grover and the faculty members, namely, Prof. Karampal Kaur, Dr. Neetu Purohit, Prof. Neha Sharma, Prof. Gurdeep Singh, Prof. Anita Rani, Prof. Manpreet Kaur, Dr. Samanveer Kaur and Prof. Asha for earnestly working towards the commencement of this course.

The Head, Department of English, Dr. Satish Grover welcomed the students and stated that this certificate course would aid students in learning about the nuances of language and help gain them a mastery over English language. This would certainly boost confidence amongst the students and offer them lucrative opportunities in varied fields.

DAV College Bathinda Organises Seven Days “Self Defence Camp” For Girls (18-25 March 2023)

The Department of Physical Education, DAV College Bathinda organized seven days “Self Defence” camp for girls from March 18-25, 2023. As many as 36 girls participated in the camp and learnt many techniques to defend themselves during times of crisis.
Training was provided by the Karate and Self Defence coach Mr. Parmod Bhandari. The camp was organised to enhance the self confidence of the girls and make them self reliant. Girl students were trained in the simple ways of self defence and informed about how to gear themselves up for unfavourable situations and harassing situations.

Head, Department of Physical Education Prof. Kuldeep Singh stated that the safety of the girl child should be given maximum priority. Witnessing the eager participation of girls in this camp in the last session, this camp has once again been organized this year to instill a sense of security and confidence amongst them.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma expressed immense gratification to witness the girls learn the technique of self defence dexterously. He believes that this camp would empower the girls and help them tackle unforeseen circumstances. Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma thanked the coach Mr. Parmod Bhandari for training the girls and applauded the HoD Physical Education Prof. Kuldeep Singh and Prof. Nirmal Singh for their tireless efforts and Dr. Samanveer Mann for the supervision of girls in the training camp.

DAV College Bathinda Organises Lecture on “Udyam: Soar to Shine” (7 March 2023)

The Career Counselling and Placement Cell, DAV College, Bathinda in collaboration with the District Bureau of Employment Exchange and Enterprises (DBEE) organized a lecture on “Udyam: Soar to Shine”. The resource persons on the occasion were Mr. Tirathpal Singh (Deputy CEO), Ms. Shruti Diwan (Skill Development) and Mr. Baltej Singh. The resource persons were welcomed by the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh and Coordinator Career Counselling and Placement Cell Prof. Meetu S. Wadhwa.

Mr. Tirathpal Singh motivated the students to think big and smart in order to achieve their goals. He asked them to come forward with their new start up ideas. Ms. Shruti Diwan made the students aware of the Udyam registration process, which is a prerequisite for availing the benefits of schemes or programmes of the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium enterprises. She motivated them to come up new ideas which can revolutionize the model of business. Mr. Baltej Singh informed the students about the latest jobs and the procedure involved in applying.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma thanked the team from DBEE for acquainting the students with various job opportunities and motivating them to come up with out of the box ideas. He also appreciated the Coordinator Career Counselling and Placement Cell Prof. Meetu S. Wadhwa and the team members, namely, Prof. Monika Bhatia, Prof. Seema Rani, and Dr. Neha Jindal for organizing the lecture.

DAV College Bathinda organized the 2nd Spring Flower Show on the occasion of International Women’s Day at DAV College Bathinda. A wide palette of flowers including perennials, annuals and vines adorned the occasion. The atmosphere pervaded with a joyful celebration of hues and fragrance of flowers. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Reena Rani, Department of Horticulture, Bathinda. Other distinguished guests on the occasion were Dr. K.K. Nohria (Senior Member, Local Committee), Dr. Surinder Mohan Garg (President, M.H.R. School), Mrs. Vimal Garg (Member, Local Committee) and Dr. Charanjeet Dhillon (Director, Doon School). The esteemed guests were welcomed by the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh, Event Coordinators Dr. Vandana Jindal, Prof. Meetu S Wadhwa, and Dr. Amandeep Kaur.

The flower show witnessed an overwhelming participation from various quarters of the city, like, students from different schools and individual entries displayed a wide variety of ornamental and potted plants. Other individuals and organizations entertaining the audience and offering their services were Orane International (Floral Nail Art), Disha Art Work (Portrait Making) and Ms. Ankita Garg (Tattoo Making).

Various species of flowers like Aster, Antirrhinum, Carnation, Dahlia, Dianthus, Geranium, Gazania, etc. were on display. More than 200 entries were received for various categories like, “Flower Arrangement”, “Ornamental Plants”, “Miniature Landscape” “Floral Photography”, “Bonsai”, “Cactus”, “Bouquet making”, “Floral Jewellery”, “Fruit/Vegetable Basket”, “Pot Painting”, “Nail Art” and “Tattoo making” with the theme of flowers. Prizes and certificates were awarded for the same.

To add to fun and frolic, a variety of competitions were organized. Melodies pervaded the air with a melodious rendition by students and staff members. Towards the end, fun games like guess the song, blow the cups, musical chairs, lucky one, etc. were also organized for the staff and students of the college.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma congratulated everyone on the occasion of International Women’s Day. He stated that today is the day to celebrate the significant contribution of women in every sphere of life. He stated that the flower show being organized on this occasion is a perfect reminder to the whole world that women like flowers exude positivity and spread happiness all around. He expressed immense happiness over witnessing an overwhelming participation in the Spring Flower Show. He thanked the distinguished guests for sparing time off their busy schedule and being a part of this event. He also appreciated the core committee members of the event and all other committees for their wholehearted efforts in organizing this floral show. Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma also acknowledged the contribution of the NSS Coordinators and NSS volunteers.

The students, guests, teaching and non-teaching staff members created beautiful memories on this occasion to be cherished forever.

DAV CRICKET CUP – 2023  (29th March 2023 to 18th April 2023)

DAV Royals Wins the DAV Cricket Cup -2023 Organised by Physical Education Department. The most awaited final nail biting match of “DAV Cricket Cup”, organized by DAV College Bathinda, was played between DAV Royals and DAV Spartans. The grand event witnessed the audience stands packed to its full capacity and excitement pervading every heart.A rush of adrenalin could be felt amongst the players and the spectators on the D-Day of the event. Shri Surinder Mohan Garg, President, M.H.R. Schools was the Chief Guest at the inaugural session.

Dr. Rajeev Kr. Sharma expressed immense gratitude to the Kabbadi coach Prof. Madan Lal, Cricket Coach Rajeev Mohanty and Assistant Coach Mr. Ajay Walia for training the students and supervising the preparations of the Cricket Cup 2023. He applauded the efforts of the Head, Department of Physical Education Prof. Kuldeep Singh and Prof. Nirmal Singh for their assiduousness in mentoring the students and successfully organizing this tournament. He congratulated all the team incharges and the students for participating in DAV Cricket Cup with utmost passion and dedication. He showered praises on DAV Royals team incharge Prof. Roop Singh, DAV Spartans team incharge Prof. Ramil and the players for immersing themselves in scrupulous practice sessions and unfolding spellbound innings. He stated that the journey or the winning moment has only been made possible because of the perseverance and dedicated efforts of the team incharges and the players.

The Head, Department of Physical Education Prof. Kuldeep Singh congratulated the teams and thanked them for their cooperation. He stated that it has been the endeavour of the Department and the College to provide World Class Sports facilities. Therefore, the College would take the Cricket Cup at a higher pedestal and cater to a wider public. He further added that the college is also venturing out in the direction of other sports like, basketball and badminton and very soon players of these games too would exhibit their mettle.

DAV College Bathinda Observes World Heritage Day (20 April 2023)

The Department of Sociology, DAV College Bathinda in association with the Eco Club celebrated “World Heritage Day 2023” in the college. The theme “Heritage Changes” was portrayed very creatively by the students.

As many as posters were presented on varied themes like Heritage and Culture of India, Effects of Global Warming on Heritage monuments, Preservation of Monuments, etc. The first position was bagged by Hardiljeet Singh Brar (BA II), second position was won by Gurjivan Singh (BA I) and the third position went to Harleen Kaur (BA I). Award of Appreciation was won by Komaldeep Kaur (BA II).
The event was judged by Dr. Satish Grover (Registrar, HoD English), Dr. Vandana Jindal (HoD Computer Science), Dr. Sukhdeep Kaur (Department of Punjabi &Youth Coordinator) and Prof. Karampal Kaur (Department of English).

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma stated that it is the need of the hour to preserve our cultural heritage and to pay attention to the climatic changes and hazards which the beautiful monuments confront. He further added that by organizing such programmes, we can make the youth appreciate the richness and diversity of our cultural heritage and motivate them to work towards conserving the global heritage. He also appreciated the efforts of the students in portraying the beauty of our heritage sites and the need to preserve them for posterity. Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma applauded the dedicated efforts of the Convener Prof. Manpreet Kaur Punia from Department of Sociology for organizing this event meticulously.

Annual Athletic Meet – 2023 (24 Feb 2023)

On the occasion of 200th birth anniversary of the Arya Samaj founder Swami Dayanand Saraswati, DAV College Bathinda organized the Annual Athletic Meet on its campus on February 24, 2023. The event witnessed an overwhelming participation of students, thus, resonating the dictum of “A healthy mind in a healthy body”.

The chief guest at the inaugural ceremony was Sh. Sandeep Gupta, Superintendent Engineer, Municipal Council, Bathinda. The other distinguished guests at the inaugural ceremony were Sh. Surinder Mohan Garg, Chairman, MHR Schools, Dr. Anuradha Bhatia, Principal DAV School, Bathinda, Retd. Principal S. Surjeet Singh, Govt. Rajindra College and Mr. Sukhmeet Bhasin, Senior Correspondent, The Tribune. DAV College Bathinda Initiates Coaching Classes for Competitive Examinations (10 Feb 2023)

In order to provide students a competitive edge, the Competitive Examination Cell of DAV College Bathinda initiated coaching classes for the students for banking and other government department examinations.

The Dean, Competitive Cell Prof. Atul Singla stated that coaching would be provided for Reasoning, Mental Ability, General Awareness and English. The team constituted for the purpose, includes experts on various subjects, namely of, Prof. Monika Bhatia, Dr. Neetu Purohit, Dr. Paramjeet Kaur, Prof. Amit Kumar Singla, Dr. Ranjeet Singh, Prof. Harpreet Kaur and Prof. Ramil Gupta. He stated that the overwhelming response of the students has provided an impetus to the Competitive Examination Cell and in future coaching would be provided for various other courses also.

The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma addressed the students on the first day of the classes and stated that the college has initiated these classes to provide them in-house coaching by the experts. He wished luck to the students in their future endeavours. He also congratulated Prof. Atul Singla and his team members for this initiative.

National Voters Day Observed at DAV College Bathinda (25 Jan 2023)

DAV College Bathinda under SVEEP initiative celebrated National Voters Day in the college by observing oath taking ceremony.

The Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh and the staff members took the oath to uphold the democratic traditions of the country, and cast vote without any fear or prejudice. Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated this initiative of Election Commission of India for making the voters aware of importance of their voting rights. He also congratulated Prof. Pawanpreet Singh (Nodal Officer, Electoral Literacy Club) for being awarded by District Electoral Officer for his contribution towards creating awareness of SVEEP activities amongst the youth.

Lohri Celebration at DAV College Bathinda (13 Jan 2022)

An atmosphere of piousness and jubilation pervaded the precincts of DAV College Bathinda today on the occasion of Lohri. On this auspicious occasion a bonfire was lit and the offering of peanuts, popcorns and rewari was made. The sacred festival was marked by the celebration of the birth of the grandchild of Prof. Ravinder Singh, little ones of Prof. Munish and Prof. Heena and marriages of Prof. Kulwinder Kaur, Prof. Priyanka and Prof. Manpreet Kaur Punia.

The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh and the faculty members congratulated the proud grandparents, parents and the newlyweds.

The faculty members presented boliyan, sithniyan and folk songs and participated in various fun filled games which permeated every being with abundant joy.

The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma wished everybody a Happy Lohri and a prosperous year ahead. He prayed that observing this sacred festival should inculcate a sense of righteousness amongst all.

Computer Literacy Classes for Senior Citizens (21-12- 2022)

The Department of Computer Science, DAV College Bathinda, in collaboration with the Senior Citizen Brotherhood organisation concluded the seven days Senior Citizens’ Computer Literacy Programme on December 21, 2022 in a befitting manner. The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Head, Department of Computer Science Dr. Vandana Jindal, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh and the faculty members of the Department of Computer Science extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest Mr. Sanjay Mittal (Regional Manager, ICICI Bank), Retd. Prof. Sh. A.K.Gupta and Sh. M.R. Mittal.

The programme commenced with an opening speech by Dr. Vandana Jindal. She stated that the Senior Citizens Classes were conducted from December 14-21, 2022, wherein many concepts like MS Word, Paint, Media Player, Surf the Web, Online Banking, Online Shopping, Hands on Social Media, etc. were explained in detail. As many as 36 senior citizens attended the classes. A Power Point Presentation showing the glimpses of these seven days workshop was shown to the gathering. She thanked the senior citizens for giving DAV College, Bathinda a chance to extend their services to the society in a noble manner.

The Chief Guest Mr. Sanjay Mittal reminisced his journey as alumnus of DAV College, Bathinda. He said that being in the precincts of the college fills him with immense gratitude and respect for his teachers and the administration. He also expressed his wish to contribute in some way to his Alma Mater by interacting with the enrolled students and guiding them about placements.
The programme came into full swing with the esteemed senior citizens participating with full zest and vigour. Their spirits soared high and they shared their beautiful learning experiences with the audience in the form of songs, poetry, jokes and anecdotes. Each one of them expressed immense gratitude to the faculty for making them conversant with computers, teaching them the know-how of technological advancements and bringing them at par with the younger generation. They stated that online banking, online payments, social media, etc. which earlier seemed an impossible task for them, was now available to them at just the click of a mouse.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma expressed great pleasure to witness the energetic and noble minded senior citizens. He stated that the elders, who are the pillars of the society, today have proved to be our anchors, teaching us many valuable lessons in learning, humility and living life to the fullest. DAV Students Visit District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises (5 Nov 2022)

The Career Counselling and Placement Cell, DAV College, Bathinda organized one day visit to District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises for the students of B.Com (III) year under the Govt’s Ghar Ghar Rozgar Mission. Around 40 students accompanied by Prof. Amit Kumar Singla, got themselves registered at the Employment Bureau. Ms. Ankita Aggarwal (Employment Generation, Skill Development &Training Officer), Mr. Tirthpal Singh (Deputy CEO) and Mr. Vishal Chawla (Career Counsellor) interacted with the students and stated that being a registered applicant, the candidate is eligible for sponsorship for trainings / coaching under different Govt. schemes. They imparted valuable information to the students regarding identifying the lucrative opportunities, various steps involved in the preparation of the competitive examinations and filling the forms.

Dean Prof. Meetu S. Wadhwa stated that the Career Counselling and Placement Cell of the college always aims at keeping the students abreast of the employment opportunities and provides them rigorous training sessions at the hands of the experts in various fields.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the efforts of the Dean, Career Counselling Prof. Meetu S. Wadhwa and her team for their dedicated efforts. Voter Awareness Programme at DAV College Bathinda (27 Oct 2022)

The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) of DAV College Bathinda under SVEEP initiative and as per the instructions of District Election Office Bathinda organised a Voter Awareness Programme. The Chief Guest Sh. Suresh Gaur (Assistant Nodal Officer, SVEEP, Bathinda) was welcomed by the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma and ELC Nodal Officer Prof. Pawanapreet Singh.

Sh. Suresh Gaur explained in detail the online process of linking Voter Card and Aadhar Card. Training regarding using mobile app “Voters Helpline App” was also imparted to the students. Sh. Suresh Gaur also responded to the students’ queries regarding the electoral process.

The ELC Nodal Officer, Prof. Pawanpreet Singh thanked the esteemed guest for enlightening the students about the process. He elucidated on the importance of linking Aadhar card and Voter card and stated that the initiative will check the authenticity of the voters for free and fair elections.

The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma encouraged students for maximum participation in the electoral process of India. He expressed gratitude to the Election Commission of India for launching such types of initiatives, which will enhance the credibility of electoral process in India.

DAV College Bathinda Organises Diwali Get-Together (21 Oct 2022)

DAV College Bathinda organized a Diwali Get- Together on the campus. The meticulous arrangements were looked into by Prof. Kuldeep Singh (Staff Secretary), Prof. Ravinder Singh (Head, Department of Punjabi) and Prof. Nirmal Singh (Department of Physical Education). The college environs sparkled with joy and festivities on this occasion. The occasion witnessed the teaching and the non teaching staff brimming with delight and showcasing their talent in the form of songs, poetry and artistic expressions. The beautiful renditions by Dr. Sukhdeep Kaur, Prof. Rajesh Batra, Prof. Lakhveer, Prof. Nirmal Singh, Dr. Pooja and Prof. Chanderdeep Singh captivated the audience. Dr. Sukhdeep Kaur (Youth Coordinator) and Dr. Paramjeet Kaur conducted the stage and enlivened it with their wit and joviality. Various fun- filled games were also played, followed by a scrumptious meal.

DAV College Bathinda Wins the Overall Champion Trophy in Punjabi University Inter College Zonal Youth Festival (October 6-9, 2022)

DAV College Bathinda experienced great jubilation and exhilaration on witnessing the successful culmination of the gala four-day Punjabi University Inter College Zonal Youth Festival, held from October 6-9, 2022. The distinguished guests on the occasion were Dr. K.K. Nohria (Senior Member, Local Committee), Dr. Gagandeep Thappa (Incharge Youth Welfare Department, Punjabi University, Patiala), Mr. Danny (Youth Welfare Department, Punjabi University, Patiala) and Sh. Pal Singh Samaon (Folk Artist). The distinguished guests were accorded a warm welcome by the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Vice-Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh and the Youth Coordinator Dr. Sukhdeep Kaur.

As many as 48 colleges of Bathinda-Faridkot Zone participated in the youth festival. The team in-charges and students expressed immense happiness at the meticulously organized festival by the college. Their overall enthusiastic participation in various events also met with acclaim and applauds.

DAV College became the proud recipient of the Overall Champion Trophy. The Overall Fine Arts Trophy was won by Govt. Rajindra College, Bathinda. University College Guddha won the Overall Folk Arts Trophy. Pandit Chetan Dev Got. College of Education, Faridkot. won the Overall Literary Trophy. The Overall TRohies of Music, Dance and Theatre were clinched by DAV College Bathinda

1st Spring

Flower Show on International Women’s Day at DAV College Bathinda 2021-22

A Spring Flower Show featuring a wide palette of flowers was organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day in DAV College Bathinda. The atmosphere pervaded with a joyful celebration of hues and fragrance of flowers. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Reena Rani, Department of Horticulture, Bathinda. The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma , Convener Dr. Vandana Jindal, Coordinator Prof. Meetu S Wadhwa, Dr. Satish Grover (Head, Department of English) and Dr. Monica Ghulla (Head, Department of Hindi) welcomed the Chief Guest, guests and participants.Various species of flowers were on display. To add to fun and frolic, a variety of competitions were also organized. More than 100 entries were received for “Best Flowers” (variable category), “Best Ornamental Plant” category, “Best Floral Photography”, “Best Cut Flower “ (variable category), “Best Flower Arrangement”, “Best Bonsai” and “Floral Jewellery Design” . Prizes and certificates were awarded for the same.

2019-20

  • he Revered Presence of Sh. Satpal Arya Ji on the Occasion of Rishibodhutsav  on 7th March 2020, at DAV College Bathinda. The Department  of Hindi and the Arya Samaj Committee of DAV College Bathinda organized a solemn Hawan Yagna on the occasion of Rishibodhutsav. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Sh. Satpal Arya Ji (Secretary, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi).   The Chief Guest and other guests were accorded a warm welcome by the staff members. The Hawan-Yajna was sanctified with the chanting of gayatri and vedic mantras. The rendition of the bhajan “Milta Hai Sacha Sukh Kewal” by the students imbued everybody’s heart with pious and sacred feelings.

   

  • Donation of Water Coolers by State Bank of India to DAV College Bathinda on 02 march 2020.  DAV College Bathinda feels privileged to be blessed by its benefactors from all spheres of society. The college feels nostalgic and proud of its alumni who render their services in every possible way. Sh. Pawan Kumar Goyal, Regional manager, SBI Bathinda and an alumnus of the college alongwith Sh. SubhashJoinwal, General Manager, SBI, FIMM Network, Patiala visited the college and donated two water coolers.

  • The Student Welfare Association of DAV College Bathinda observed the National Deworming Day (NDD) on February 10, 2020 on its campus with the aid of the team of experts from Civil Hospital, Bathinda.

  • Students wins 3rd position in the wall paintings competition organized by PEDA.
  • Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine Installed at DAV College Bathinda on 28th Sep, 2019. The machine was installed under the supervision of the IQAC Coordinator Dr. Kusum Gupta and has been donated by the Inner Wheel Club of Bathinda. It was inaugurated by the President Inner Wheel Club Ms. Renu Garg, Secretary Ms. Kiran Seth and other members of the club.
 

2018-19

  • The Post Graduate Department of Mathematics organised a presentation on “Pure Mathematics” for the students of M.Sc. I and M.Sc. II.
  • The Post Graduate Department of Commerce and Management, organised Rangoli, Slogan Writing and Collage making competitions. The first and the second positions in the Rangoli competition were won by Ruchi (B.Com III) and Veenakshi (B.Com II) respectively. In Slogan Writing the first and second positions were won by Ruchi (B.Com III) and Kajal (B.Com III) respectively.
  • The ACME Chemical Society of the Post Graduate Department of Chemistry organised Calligraphy, Quiz, Poster Making and Poster Presentation Competitions for the B.Sc. and M.Sc. students.
  • Lohri Celebrations: Praying to the Almighty to inculcate a sense of righteousness amongst everybody, the sacred festival Lohri was celebrated with much enthusiasm. On this auspicious occasion folk songs were sung, a bonfire was lit and the offering of peanuts, popcorns and rewari was made.
  • National Voters Day: National Voters Day, organised by the SVEEP committee, was observed in the college to create awareness about the necessity of voting and voting rights amongst the youth.
  • Republic Day Celebrations: Saluting the valiant spirit of the soldiers who leave the cocoon of their hearths, the 70th Republic Day at the college was celebrated with great reverence and enthusiasm
  • Matribhasha Diwas: The PG Department of Punjabi celebrated Matribhasha Diwas, Mother Tongue Day. To commemorate this occasion, students participated in various literary competitions like poetry, prose, and story writing. They expressed themselves poignantly in their revered mother tongue.
  • ASCII club organized the Poster Making competition . So many students participated in this activity.

  • Bhog Ceremony of Shri Akhand Path Sahib: Holy Path of Shri Guru Granth Sahib was commenced by the students and staff of the college, at Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Bibiwala Road, Bathinda. The bhog ceremony of Shri Akhand Path Sahib was solemnized with the recitation of shabad kirtans and holy hymns in the college premises.
  • Prizes Won by Students of Phyics Dept.: The students of the Department of Physics won prizes in live projects at INOVIZ 2019 organised by Baba Farid College, Deon Bathinda.
  • 3rd Annual Quiz Competition: The PG Department of Commerce and Management in collaboration with IQAC organized 3rd Annual Quiz Competition.
  • Declamation Competition: The PG Department of Commerce and Management organized a Declamation Competition. The students enthusiastically presented their views on various current and socially relevant topics.

  • Essay Writing Competition organized by Post Graduate Department of History.
  • “Tarang 2017”: The programme was organized to celebrate the victory of the students at Zonal and the Inter Zonal Youth Festival organized by Punjabi University, Patiala. The items presented in the cultural programme were those which had fetched first and second prize in the Zonal and the Inter Zonal Youth Festival. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Ramesh Arya Ji, Vice President, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi.
  • Holy Path of ‘Shri Guru Granth Sahib’ was commenced by the students and staff of DAV College, Bathinda at Gurudwara Shri Kalgidhar Sahib, Bibiwala Road, Bathinda. The bhog ceremony of Shri Akhand Path Sahib was solemnized with the recitation of Shabad Kirtan and holy hymns  in the premises of the college.

2016-17

  • The Computer Department organized a Kite Making Competition on January 31, 2017 on the eve of Basant Panchami.
  • The Arya Samaj Committee organized Declamation/ Poetry Competition on the topic “Let’s Make the World a Better Place”.
  • Many students participated enthusiastically in the programme and came up with many thought provoking ideas.
  • The endowed students left an indelible impression on the minds of the audience in “Le Economist”, an event organized at Akal University, Talwandi Sabo. 14 students of DAV College participated in various events, namely, Quiz, Declamation, Poster Making and Collage Making. Ansh Gupta. They  exhibited their acumen and won second position in the Quiz competition and declamation.
  • Declamation Competition organized by The “English Literary Society” on the topic “Importance of English at Global Level”.
  • Video making competition organized by The ASCII club

2015-2016

  • Two girls of DAV College, Bathinda won second prize in “Iktara Wajda” in Inter College Music competition, organized by Mata Sahib Kaur Girls College, Talwandi Sabo.
  • Beant Singh stood 2nd in Inter College Youth Festival in “Turban Tying Competition” organized at AdeshUniversity(Medical College), Bhucho. Around 300 students participated in the competition.
  • Students of Science Association (Physics, Chemistry and Biology departments) participated in the Science Fair and Quiz competitions at Akal University, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda.
  • Nikita, MA I year, won II prize in Essay Competition on “Voter Awareness”, held at Govt. Rajindra College.
  • IAPT (Indian Association of Physics Teachers) National Graduate Physics Examination (NGPE-2016) was conducted on 24/01/2016.
  • Three students of B.Sc.-II(B) participated in Science Mania-2016 (Quiz and Declamation) organized by Guru Nanak College, Sri Mukatsar Sahib.
  • NSS organized a special lecture on the life of SardarVallabh Bhai Patel. Prof. Sandeep Bhatia, NSS Programme officer delivered a lecture on the inspirational life of the Loh Purush.
  • NSS organized a special lecture on the life of Swami Vivekanand. Dr. R.K. Mahajan, President, Swami Vivekanand Study Circle, delivered the lecture.
  • An essay writing competition was organized in the campus on LalaLajpatRai’s 150th birth anniversary.
  • A Poster Making Competition was organized on National Science Day, jointly by Departments of Chemistry, Physics and Biology. More than 50 students of various streams participated in the competition.
  • World Culture Festival: 15 students of DAV college participated in the World Culture Festival, held at Delhi. A total of 155 countries participated in the event. These 15 students were part of the Bhangra team which comprised of 1100 students.
  • NSS organized a function of Red Ribbon Club in which a documentary film “Awareness on Aids”, a Government of India initiative was screened for the students of the college.
  • Four students of the Economics Department Participated in Inter-College Paper Reading Contest on the topic ‘Indian Economy and Its Growing Dimensions’ organized by DAV College Malout on 21st March 2016.
  • The effervescent team of the Punjabi movie “KyaFarakPadtaHai”visited the campus of DAV College, Bathinda for the promotion of their film. It is a multi starrer film, featuring artists like Navy Jassal, Pankaj Berry, Kalpana Shah, SatishManak, Ashok Shah etc. The film is directed by Mr. JatinderJiaswal and produced by Mr. Navy Jassal.
