Department of Computer Science & Information Technology

The Department of Computer Science was established in 1997 with the objective of imparting quality education in the field of Computer Science. Currently, it has 6 permanent faculty members and over 300 students working towards their Bachelor’s, Master’s degrees The department of Computer Science offers programs of study (as prescribed by Punjabi Univ.) related to computing, information technology and software design and application. The Department has modern facilities for teaching, learning and research. The Department offers a wide array of research opportunities and programs of study at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The Department started a 2-year M.Sc. Computer Science programme in the year 2010 with the aim to develop core competence in Computer Science and prepare the students to carry out development work, as well as take up challenges in research. The department currently offers BCA, B.Sc. Computer Science/ Mathematics, B.A with Computer Science and M.Sc.(Information Technology). It also offers a one year diploma course in Computer Science after graduation i.e. PGDCA. The Department has well equipped 4 computer labs with latest software and tools in addition to requirement prescribed by the university guidelines. Classrooms with ICT facilities are provided to students.

Computer Science and Technology has become the backbone of science and technology growth, and has penetrated every aspect of social life. Computer science has proven to be a field of enormous challenges and even greater opportunities. We are determined to take a leading position in expanding its boundaries through research and teaching of the highest quality. Our vision is that our research and our graduates will be at the forefront of the field, both at home and abroad.

Valedictory Session of Seven Days Workshop on Personality Development organised at DAV College.

Department of Computer Science in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell(IQAC) and Institution Innovation Council (IIC) organised a Seven Day workshop of Personality Development for the selected students of BBA, BCA, B. Com (Hons.), PGDCA.The idea in arranging for this workshop was to inculcate fine Communication Skills, a dignified level of Confidence, habit of Reading Newspaper and Effective Writing Skills. The Coordinator of the Workshop, Prof. Rajesh Batra informed that a group of 43 students successfully completed the workshop. On the day of Valediction Dr. Rishm welcomed the Guests of the day, Mrs. Parminder Kaur, Director, District Bureau of Employment Exchange(DBEE), Ms. Ankita Aggarwal, Employment Generation Skill Development and Training Officer, and Mr. Vishal Chawla, Career Counsellor.Miss Ankita conducted an engaging session on Imparting Interview Skills. Mr. Vishal Chawla in his session dealt with the techniques of writing an effective Curriculum Vitae.The Principal of the College, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the efforts of Prof. Rajesh Batra , Coordinator of the Workshop and the resource persons Dr. Satish Grover, Registrar, Dr. Vandana Jindal, Coordinator, IIC, Prof. Pawan Kumar Coordinator, IQAC, Prof. Vikas Katia, Dr. Shishpal Jindal, Dr. Neetu Purohit, Prof. Neha Sharma, Prof. Heena Bindal who all introduced the Leadership Qualities, Communication Skills, Attributes of Group Discussion, tips for Resume Writing and Interview Skills. DAV College, Bathinda organises 7 Days Workshop on Personality Development.

Department of Computer Science in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Institution Innovation Council (IIC) is organising a Seven Day workshop from October 17,2023 to October 23,2023 for the selected students of BBA, BCA, B.Com (Hons.), PGDCA.On the day of Commencement, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma encouraged the students to develop refine Personality by inculcating fine Communication Skills, a dignified level of Confidence, habit of Reading Newspaper and Effective Writing Skills. He wished luck to all the 47 participants of the workshop. The Coordinator of the Workshop, Prof. Rajesh Batra welcomed the participants and introduced all the Resource Persons. He mentioned the topics listed in this certificate course.The resource person of the workshop includes Dr. Satish Grover, Registrar, Dr. Vandana Jindal, Coordinator IIC, Prof. Pawan Kumar Coordinator IQAC, Prof. Vikas Katia, Dr. Shishpal Jindal, Dr. Neetu Purohit, Prof. Neha Sharma, Prof. Heena Bindal and Mr. Vishal Chawla, who would work in collaboration to impart Motivational, Self Introduction and Introspection Skills, Leadership Qualities, Communication Skills, Attributes of Group Discussion, and tips for Resume Writing.All the participants were seen much exhilarated and excited, and were well set to imbibe the key points in their personality.Also present in the inaugural address were Prof. Rakesh Puri, Prof. Anuja Puri, Dr. Rishm, Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Ms. Gurpreet and Ms. Sandhya.

DAV College, Bathinda organised Motivational Lecture to Join Indian Army.

Department of Computer Science in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Institutions’ Innovation Council (IIC), and Placement and Counseling Cell has organized a “Motivational Lecture” for the aspiring youth of the College. Captain Shubham Thakur, 11 FOD was the featured speaker for the seminar. The Principal of the College, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Registrar, Dr. Satish Grover, Head Department, Computer Science, and Coordinator IIC, Dr. Vandana Jindal, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Pawan Kumar, Coordinator, Placement and Counseling Cell, Prof. Meetu Wadhwa welcomed Capt. Shubham Thakur.

Capt. Shubham urged the students to join armed forces while informing the audience about the salient features of the Army. He detailed about the challenging Army Life, Professionalism, Unit ethos, Secularism and other aspects of the army. Students interacted with Capt. Shubham and raised their queries related to different branches of the armed forces. Around 150 students from BCA-I,II,III, DCA, PGDCA, MSC-IT(Lateral) listened to the engaging and informational lecture.

The stage was managed by Dr. Rishm, Department of Computer Science. The Principal of the College, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma addressed the students and encouraged them to provide selfless services to all the sections of the society, and be responsible, devoted, selfless and dedicated citizens of the country. Workshop on Microsoft Word and Power Point Presentation

The Post Graduate Department of Computer Science, DAV College Bathinda organized  a Workshop on Microsoft Word and Power Point Presentation in Computer Lab-IV on 03/10/2023.

The workshop was conducted by Prof. Anuja Puri for the students of BCA-I (Sec-A)

The workshop was aimed to show how PowerPoint presentations work like slide shows. To convey a message or a story, one break it down into slides. How one can consider each slide as a blank canvas for the pictures and words that help to tell story on the other hand she discussed important benefit which is gained from using Microsoft Word,  it allows the users to make different formats in accordance with the need.

She also discussed Microsoft is a graphical word processing program that users can type with. The purpose of the MS Word is to allow the users to type and save documents. Microsoft word, often called as word, carries with it a lot of benefits.

All the students actively participated in the workshop by making different slides and word documents.

Workshop on Computer graphics and Web Desiging.

The post graduate Department of computer science, DAV College Bathinda organised a workshop on computer graphics and web designing for the students of MScIT and Bca-III in computer lab-2
The workshop was conducted by Dr rishm on 28th, Sep. 2023.
This workshop geared for anyone without any prior experience with computer graphics or coding. Word press enables to create and maintain a website. Even if you have no Web design background, the workshop aimed to create a new website for small business or blog
The main objective of the workshop was to help students to become familiar with Web designing courses that deals with the creating and maintaining of websites. Students pursuing web designing courses will equip themselves with the skills and knowledge of creating websites which are user friendly and easy to use. Web design courses involve planning, creating, and maintaining websites. Some of the topics learnt under web designing courses are basics of web designing, HTML, CSS, UX Design, Graphic Design, Multimedia technologies, and Java script. These topics discussed will help students to work in real time projects while creating websites.

SEMINAR ON BIG DATA ANALYTICS AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Big Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence are the new emerging technologies in the industry of tech-world in the context of the same, a Seminar was organised  by the Post Graduate Department of Computer Sciences on 27th Sept. 2023 in Computer Lab -4. The Seminar was conducted by Dr. Shishpal Jindal , on the topic “Latest Industrial Trends in Big Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence” for the students of BCA-1

The lecture began with the introduction to the  basic concepts of DBMS, AI, Machine Learning, Image Processing, and Cloud Computing that are essential for a data analyst. He also thoroughly informed students about what the IT industry expected today from an IT Expert, especially a Data Analyst. During the session, he also stated and expressed how to create careers in those fields and how to gain advantage in the current scenario by using various trajectories. The event proved to be beneficial to all the students in terms of their careers in the long run, as they learned about AI & Big Data Analytics in detail.

Later, a query session took place in the end as a conclusion of the session, wherein students cleared all their doubts.

Seminar on Object Oriented Programming and implication of concepts

The Post Graduate Department of Computer Science, DAV College Bathinda organized a Seminar on Object Oriented Programming and implication of concepts for the students of BCA II in Computer Lab- II on 25- Sep -2023
The seminar was conducted by Prof. Rakesh Puri.
The Seminar on object oriented programming provides conceptual approach.
He aimed to discuss all the fundamentals of OOP, such as classes, objects, inheritance, polymorphism, and abstraction. They also cover topics such as design patterns, object-relational mapping, and software development best practices. This seminar are designed to help developers create robust, maintainable, and extensible software applications.
All the students actively participated by making different programs on various concepts discussed during the seminar.

SEMINAR ON CYBER SECURITY

The Post Graduate Department of Computer Science, DAV College Bathinda organized a Seminar on Cyber Security on 22nd Sep 2023 in Computer Lab -4. The Seminar was conducted by Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma for the students of BCA-I

The seminar aims to educate participants about the importance of cyber security and how it can be used to protect sensitive data and information.

Awareness to equip the students with informational tools to understand the cyberspace and the various threats to the privacy, personal information. This also raise awareness and educate students about the risks associated with cybercrime and the measures that can be taken to prevent such activities. Later, a query session took place in the end as a conclusion of the session, wherein students cleared all their doubts.

Two days Workshop on PLC & System updates cum installation

The Post Graduate Department of Computer Science, DAV College, Bathinda Organized “Two days Workshop on PLC & System updates cum installation” for Technical Staff from 18/09/2023 TO 19/09/2023.This workshop was conducted by Software/Hardware Engineer Mr. Vikrant Bansal

The main objective of this WORKSHOP was to make the aspiring technical staff members acquainted with the conceptual as well as practical knowledge of latest technologies so that they could deliver high-quality learning tools for students of all abilities with Windows for education on devices that are secure, easy to deploy and manage.

The idea of organizing this workshop was to teach A “Programmable Logic Controller and System Updating cum installation generally known as PLC. PLCs along with certain other necessary ingredients Like Interactive Setup, Automated installation, Windows Deployment Services

Digital Marketing is a boon and plays an important role in connecting organizations. This is an area which no organization wants to neglect.

The session was conducted in 2 phases. The 1st phase was concept based wherein students were given in-depth conceptual knowledge and 2nd phase was practical based wherein students were given hands-on experience on the following competencies. Post Graduate Department of Computer Science, DAV College Bathinda, Organizes Induction Programme

The Post Graduate Department of Computer Science, DAV College Bathinda acclimatized the first-year entrants to the academic environment through the “Induction Programme” organized in the Library Reading Hall of the college on September 6, 2023.

Dr. Vandana Jindal, Head, Department of Computer Science, addressed more than 250 students of different courses, namely, BCA, PGDCA, MSC-IT (Lateral) and DCA and acquainted them with the academic environment in the campus. A power point presentation was shown to the students orienting them towards the curricular, co-curricular activities, and academic practices and achievements of the college.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma urged the students to make the best use of education, focus on self-improvement, learn etiquettes and to actively participate in the various activities organised in the college. Appreciating the industrious faculty of the department, he assured the students that they will certainly gain extensively from their teachers, if they abide by their teachings. Teachers’ day celebration by ASCII club

Teaching is a profession that teaches all other professions. A day is kept aside to remember all the teachers. This day is celebrated in commemoration of Dr. Radhakrishnan, who was a staunch believer of education and was the well-known diplomat, scholar and above all a teacher.
To carry forward this tradition, Post Graduate Department of Computer Science, DAV College Bathinda, ASCII Club celebrated this occasion with much vigor and enthusiasm. Principal Dr.Rajeev Kumar Sharma , HoD Dr. Vandana Jindal and other staff members along with the students from different classes were present in computer Lab -III on 5th September 2023.
HoD Dr. Vandana Jindal added in her speech that good teacher is a pillar in the life of students.
Principal Dr. Rajeev kumar sharma motivated the students to become a good person. He emphasized on devotion, determination and dedication of a teacher for this profession. The students exhibited their talent and devotion towards teachers through speech and cake cutting.

DAV Students of BCA (Sem I) Attain Good Scores in University Examinations

DAV College Bathinda students of BCA (Sem I) attained good scores in the Punjabi University Patiala Examinations. Armandeep Singh stood first by scoring 83.2%, Manpreet Singh scored 82.8% and stood second and Sukhveer Kaur attained third position by scoring 82.2%.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma congratulated the students and motivated them to persevere to carve a niche for themselves. He also appreciated the Head, Department of Computer Science and Applications Dr. Vandana Jindal and the faculty of the department, Prof. Anuja Puri, Prof. Rakesh Puri, Dr. Shishpal Jindal, Prof. Rajesh Batra, Dr. Pawan Kumar, Prof. Ramil Gupta and Dr. Rishm for guiding and counseling the students well.

DAV College Bathinda PGDCA Students Score Remarkably in University Examinations

In a continuous pursuit of excellence, the students of PGDCA (Sem I), DAV College Bathinda obtained remarkable scores in Punjabi University Patiala examinations. The first three positions were secured by Saloni Jindal scoring 80.6%, Navdeep Kaur scoring 80% and Barinder Kaur Sidhu at 79%.

The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma congratulated the students and emphasized upon the tenets of hard work and stated that right guidance and dedication towards ones goal will sure enable the students to step up on the ladder of success. He also appreciated the Head, Department of Computer Science and Applications Dr. Vandana Jindal and the faculty of the department, Prof. Rakesh Puri, Prof. Anuja Puri, Prof. Rajesh Batra, Dr. Shishpal Jindal, Dr. Pawan Kumar, Prof. Ramil Gupta and Dr. Rishm for their consistent efforts and good results.

Two Day “Python” Workshop

The Department of Computer Science, DAV College Bathinda organized two days workshop on “Python” on March 17 & 18, 2023. The resource persons on the occasion were Dr. Anil K Verma (Professor-CSED, TIET) and Mr. Sanjeev Rao (Assistant Professor-CSED, TIET). The guests were welcomed by the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Head, Department of Computer Science Dr. Vandana Jindal and the faculty members of the Department of Computer Science.

On Day-2 of the workshop, Dr. Anil K Verma explained about the advanced features of Python, like, functions, inheritance, function overloading, operator overloading and many others.

Mr. Sanjeev Rao related the real life applications of Python language and gave practical demonstrations. He also answered queries of the participants patiently.

Certificates were distributed to the participants at the valedictory session. More than 120 participants of varied disciplines like BCA, PGDCA, B.SC, B.A. with Computer Science and B.Com attended the workshop.

The students expressed immense satisfaction at attending the workshop. They stated that the workshop was very informative. It is very useful in today’s times, when everything is technology driven. The stage was conducted by Prof. Ramil Gupta and the vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Anuja Puri.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma at the valedictory session thanked the resource persons for sparing time off their busy schedule and helping students explore various applications of Python, their practical application in various spheres, be it in academics, designing or their profession. He exhorted the students to make the best use of such workshops and enhance their knowledge and skills. Computer Literacy Classes for Senior Citizens

The Department of Computer Science, DAV College Bathinda, in collaboration with the Senior Citizen Brotherhood organisation concluded the seven days Senior Citizens’ Computer Literacy Programme on December 21, 2022 in a befitting manner. The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Head, Department of Computer Science Dr. Vandana Jindal, Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh and the faculty members of the Department of Computer Science extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest Mr. Sanjay Mittal (Regional Manager, ICICI Bank), Retd. Prof. Sh. A.K.Gupta and Sh. M.R. Mittal.

The programme commenced with an opening speech by Dr. Vandana Jindal. She stated that the Senior Citizens Classes were conducted from December 14-21, 2022, wherein many concepts like MS Word, Paint, Media Player, Surf the Web, Online Banking, Online Shopping, Hands on Social Media, etc. were explained in detail. As many as 36 senior citizens attended the classes. A Power Point Presentation showing the glimpses of these seven days workshop was shown to the gathering. She thanked the senior citizens for giving DAV College, Bathinda a chance to extend their services to the society in a noble manner.

The Chief Guest Mr. Sanjay Mittal reminisced his journey as alumnus of DAV College, Bathinda. He said that being in the precincts of the college fills him with immense gratitude and respect for his teachers and the administration. He also expressed his wish to contribute in some way to his Alma Mater by interacting with the enrolled students and guiding them about placements.
The programme came into full swing with the esteemed senior citizens participating with full zest and vigour. Their spirits soared high and they shared their beautiful learning experiences with the audience in the form of songs, poetry, jokes and anecdotes. Each one of them expressed immense gratitude to the faculty for making them conversant with computers, teaching them the know-how of technological advancements and bringing them at par with the younger generation. They stated that online banking, online payments, social media, etc. which earlier seemed an impossible task for them, was now available to them at just the click of a mouse.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma expressed great pleasure to witness the energetic and noble minded senior citizens. He stated that the elders, who are the pillars of the society, today have proved to be our anchors, teaching us many valuable lessons in learning, humility and living life to the fullest. He applauded the faculty members and the support staff of the Computer Science Department, namely Dr. Vandana Jindal, Prof. Anuja Puri, Prof. Rakesh Puri, Dr. Shishpal Jindal, Prof. Rajesh Batra, Dr. Pawan Kumar, Prof. Ramil, Dr. Rishm, Er. A Convergence of Parents and Teachers in the Department

The Department of Computer Science, DAV College Bathinda organised a meeting with the students and their parents for the evaluation of academic and non academic performance of the students. The parents and their wards gathered in large numbers. The parents expressed their gratitude to the faculty and the college administration for giving an amicable environment to the students for their holistic development. They also appreciated the college for providing the infrastructure in the form of state-of-the art computer labs, departmental and central library and the other facilities.
The Head, Department of Computer Science Dr. Vandana Jindal stated that post COVID-19, this is the first meeting being organized. This platform invigorated a communication channel with one of the crucial stakeholders of the college, that is, the parents. The observations of the parents and the faculty regarding the students were exchanged and ways to deal with certain shortcomings were discussed and explored. The faculty gave their feedback of the students and the parents shared their concerns regarding their wards. Prof. Anuja Puri, Prof. Rakesh Puri, Dr. Shishpal Jindal, Prof. Rajesh Batra, Dr. Pawan Kumar, Prof. Ramil, Dr. Rishm, Er. Sheenu, Ms. Yadwinder Kaur and Ms. Karamjit Kaur were present during the meeting and deftly handled the queries posed by the parents
The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma was also present during the meeting. He addressed the parents and assured them that their wards were in safe hands at DAV, where each and every facet is taken care of. He also expressed his concern regarding the youth migrating to foreign lands, who without equipping themselves well with knowledge, are lured towards the west, and face innumerable difficulties there. He implored the parents and the students to make the best use of the opportunities available in their Alma Mater and the nation and carve a niche for themselves

Seminar on “Various Programming Languages”

A seminar on various programming languages was held on 26th October 2022 for BCA students by Prof. Rakesh Puri. Around 60 students attended the seminar. The seminar was well delivered along with the demonstration of various intricacies about the programming languages to the students. The event was graced by Principal, Dr. Rajeev Kr. Sharma, Dr. Vandana Jindal (HoD, Dept of Computer Science),Prof. Anuja Puri, Dr. Shishpal Jindal, Prof. Rajesh Batra,Dr. Pawan Kumar, Prof. Ramil, Dr. Rishm, Er. Sheenu, Ms. Yadwinder Kaur & Ms. Karamjit Kaur.

Seminar on “Internet Related Concepts”

A seminar on “Internet Related concepts” was held on 11.10.2022. The seminar was delivered by students of BCA 1st Year. It was attended by faculty members of Computer Department along with HoD Dr. Vandana Jindal.  Lecture on Mental Health and Personality Development

Lecture on Mental Health Delivered by Dr. Rati at DAV College BathindaThe NSS Unit and the Department of Computer Science of DAV CollegeBathinda delivered a lecture on “Mental Health” by Dr. Rati (Academician &Physiotherapist, Certified Personality Development Trainer, Bathinda). Dr. Ratiwas accorded a warm welcome by the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma,Registrar Dr. Satish Grover, Dean Student Welfare Dr. Surinder Kumar Singla andDr. Neha Jindal; NSS Programme Officers Prof. Amit Singla and Dr. PrabhjotKaur; Head, Department of Computer Science Dr. Vandana Jindal and the facultyof the Computer Science Department, Prof. Rakesh Puri, Prof. Anuja Puri, Prof.Rajesh Batra, Dr. Shishpal Jindal, Dr. Pawan Kumar, Prof. Ramil Gupta and Dr.Rishm.Dr. Rati delivered a lecture on “Mental Health”. Addressing the gathering,she stated that this is not a disease, rather a state of mind. She elucidated on thedilemmas which students face in the choice of their career day to day activities.Talking about the ways which contribute towards mental health, she exhorted thestudents to recognize their mental stressors, involve in self reflection, practice deepbreathing exercises, meditation and yogic aasans. She taught about the Do’s andDon’ts of communication skills and advised how to cultivate a pleasingpersonality.The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma thanked Dr. Rati to illuminateaudience about the tenets of personality development andeffective communicationskills, He also appreciated the efforts of the Student Welfare, NSS and theDepartment of Computer Science for organizing this lecture. The stage was conducted meticulously by Prof. Amit Singla. The Vote ofThanks was extended by Dr. Surinder Kumar Singla. He thanked the esteemedguest for giving useful tips and suggesting mental exercises. Dr. Neetu Purohit andProf. Neha Sharma were also present during the lecture.

Seminar-cum-Workshop on “Web Designing”

A Seminar-cum-Workshop was organised in the Computer science department, DAV College bathinda on 28th September 2022 on the topic: “Web Designing”.
It was presented by Dr. Pawan Kumar for BCA and PGDCA students.This program provided an opportunity for the students to gain knowledge in understanding the principles of creating an effective web page, architecture and the language of the web: HTML and CSS. Towards the end of the session, he interacted with students and cleared their doubts and queries. Around 135 students attended this workshop.

Workshop on “Coding and Decoding”

A workshop on “Coding and decoding” was conducted on 22nd September 2022 by Dept. of Computer Science in Computer Lab-I,D.A.V College, Bathinda. The workshop was conducted by Prof. Anuja Puri for the BCA and PGDCA students. The workshop aimed at enhancing the  Coding skills of the students. During the course of workshop, the students were given an open platform to pose queries regarding future career prospects related to the type of coding.   Around 48 students attended this workshop.

Seminar on “Introduction to Programming Languages”

A Seminar on “Introduction to programming languages” was held on 21st September 2022 in Dept. of Computer Science ,D.A.V College, Bathinda. The Seminar was presented by Dr. Shishpal Jindal ,  for the BCA and PGDCA students. Various topics including the basics of the language were covered . The seminar ended with the  knowledge on the Programming language which would  be helpful to the students in the coming  semesters and during placements. Around 143 students attended this workshop.

A Seminar on “Fundamentals of Information Technology ” was held on 20th September 2022 in Dept. of Computer Science ,D.A.V College, Bathinda. The Seminar was presented by Dr. Vandana Jindal, HoD (Dept of Computer Science). Around 120 students of BCA, DCA and PGDCA classes attended this seminar. The seminar aimed at providing an updated knowledge regarding the current computer trends. Around 98 students attended this workshop. The event was graced by Principal, Dr. Rajeev Kr. Induction Program

The Department of Computer Science held an induction programme for the new entrants on 9th September 2022, in the seminar hall to acclimatize first-year students to the academic environment in the college.
Dr. Vandana Jindal (HOD), Department of Computer Science, oriented more than 150 first year students from different courses: BCA ,PGDCA and DCA to the academic environment in the campus through lecture-cum-presentation session on socializing with the faculty, taking part in curricular, co-curricular activities, understanding the governing practices of the college administration etc.

Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma exhorted the students to value education, etiquette and manners and focus on self-improvement and to actively participate in various activities organised in the college.

The stage was conducted by Prof. Ramil Gupta.

Coding Competition

Coding Competition was organized by Department of Computer Science in Computer Lab-I on 31.05.2022 Aim of the competition was to enhance problem-solving skills, develop team player skills and also to encourage students to write cleaner and better code. Competition has two rounds, in which Eight teams participated in forts round and Five teams were taken upto the next level. The Faculty members who were present during the competition were Dr. Vandana Jindal, Prof Anuja Puri, Prof. Rakesh Puri, Prof. Shishpal Jindal,Prof. Rajesh Batra, Dr. Pawan Kumar, Prof. Ramil and Dr. Rishm.

Mock Interview Workshop

     A mock interview session was conducted on 30th MAY 2022 by the Department of Computer Science in the computer lab-II with the goal of informing students about effective techniques for appearing in an interview. Students were divided into groups by different teachers, and respective groups of teachers were made:  Group1 Dr. Vandana Jindal, Prof Anuja Puri Group2 Prof. Rakesh Puri, Prof. Shishpal Jindal Group3 Prof. Rajesh Batra, Dr. Pawan Kumar and  Group 4 Prof. Ramil, Dr. Rishm. The main aim of all the group’s mentors was to inform students about various job interview setting and how to adopt themselves to it and to prepare their response. As many as 50 students participated in the session and mock interview were conducted with all of them.

A Seminar on “Machine Learning and a systematic review for cancer prognosis and prediction using machine learning techniques” was conducted on 19th April 2022 by Dept. of Computer Science, D.A.V College, Bathinda. The Seminar was presented by Dr. Rishm, Assistant Prof. Dept of Computer Science, D.A.V College, Bathinda. The students from BCA, PGDCA, BA and B.SC attended the same and they have learnt how machine learning is the force behind many modern technological comforts that are now part of our day to day lives. National Conference on “Computational Techniques And Mathematical Modelling” at DAV College Bathinda

The Department of Computer Science in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics of D.A.V College, Bathinda organised a SERB-DST Sponsored National Conference on “Computational Techniques And Mathematical Modelling” on 12th March, 2022. The conference commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by DAV anthem. An abstract book was also released on the occasion. Around 135 delegates from various institutions participated in this conference. The guests Prof.(Dr.) Gurpreet Singh Lehal (Dean, College Development Council, Punjabi University, Patiala), Dr. Anil Kumar Verma (Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Thapar University,Patiala), Prof. (Dr.) Geeta  Sikka (Department of computer science and Engineering, NIT, Jalandhar) and Prof. (Dr. ) Manish Jindal (Panjab University Regional centre Muktsar), Dr. Sanjeev Sharma (Director, Malout Institute of Management and Information Technology (MIMIT), Malout,   were accorded a warm welcome by the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Dr. Vandana Jindal (Head, Department of Computer Science) and Prof. Atul Singla (Head, Department of Mathematics).

Webinar on “Stress Management during Covid Times”

  • Since the start of pandemic, we have gone through multiple waves which have restricted our normal lifestyle imposed by several lockdowns and the other preventing measures. With the emergence of new variant omicron, we are seeing the number of cases is again on rise so keeping the mental well being and importance of stress management the PG Department of Computer Science and IQAC Department of DAV College Bathinda organized a webinar on the topic “Stress Management during Covid times” on 17th January 2022. IQAC Incharge Dr. Pawan Kumar and Dr. Rishm from PG Department of Computer Science welcomed the esteemed Guest Dr. Jiwan Jyoti Maini.Dr. Jiwan Jyoti Maini introduced students with the ways to cope with stress in a healthy way that will make you more resilient.   • Valedictory function on the occasion of completion of computer literacy classes organized by PG Dept. of Computer Science. Pawan Kumar Goyal, regional manager SBI distributed certificates to senior citizens.
   
  • Senior Citizens Computer Literacy Classes organized to provide basic computer knowledge to senior citizens (17th Jan, 2020 to 3rd Feb, 2020)

  • The Department of Computer Science of DAV College Bathinda conducted a webinar on “Leveraging Technology to Combat Effects of COVID-19” on June 25, 2020. The resource person for the webinar was Dr. Anju Sharma, In-charge, Punjab State Aeronautics Engineering College, Patiala. The resource person was extended a warm welcome by the Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg.
  • Extension Lecture on Python, Java Script and J Query was delivered by Mr. Ashok Khaira, HR Manager, Softwiz Pvt. Ltd. on 15th Feb., 2019 to give knowledge on the various programming languages used in Software Industries.
  •  Live Telecast of Pariksha Pe Charcha 2.0 2019 was organized for the students in the college premises. Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with around 2,000 students at New Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium on Tuesday,  29th Jan., 2019. The whole programme was shown to the students (live) in the computer lab.
  • With the aim to help students to develop their mental abilities, a lecture on “Vedic Mathematics” has been conducted by Info Maths on 4th Oct.,2018.
